    Hi girls,
I hope you can help, I'm just over 5 weeks pregnant with my first child, i've just been to the bathroom and have had a small amount of bleeding, well more like dark pink discharge. Now i'm worrying, I don't have any pain anywhere.
Is this normal or do I need to see someone/ call someone?

I meant to say it was only when I wiped.

I suggest you keep a very close eye on it. If you have much more or it becomes heavier so that its more than when you wipe then I suggest phoning the drs/nhs direct and see what they suggest.

Sorry if that doesnt help. I do know how it feels as ive had 2 bleeds, one of which lasted 4 weeks and hospitalised me, and a previous mc, but now im 26 + 5 with twin boys. Bleeding isnt always bad but it isnt normal. If you are worried, phone someone and ask for advice.

bleeding in pregnancy is never classed as normal BUT often there is no cause for concern. go to the doctors tomorrow and tell them and they will probably have you in for an early scan when you are 6 weeks.

lots of people bleed in early pregnancy and everything turns out alright. i started spotting brown blood last october at 5 weeks, which after a few days turned red, and i had an mc BUT, like i said, it doesnt alwasy mean bad news.

I just thought I would throw in my tuppence worth and say that at 5 weeks it could still very well be an implantation bleed. If there aren't any clots and you aren't cramping, then it shouldn't be much to worry about - but keep an eye on it and of course call your GP or Midwife (if you have one yet) if you would like some reassurance or to try and get an early scan.
    Fingers crossed for you xx

Thank you for all of your replies, it's seems to have stopped now. I'll keep an eye on it though.
