A is 8.5 months and we have been doing BLW since she was 6 months. She has taken to it fairly well and is eating a lot more than she was when she started...there's definate intent to eat now whereas before it was whatever happened to end up in her mouth might get swallowed.
Anyway, she is due to go to nursery when she is just over 1 year old, and we're not sure how well she'll be eating by then. She is currently BF and I need to make sure she isn't reliant on the milk during the day and is eating enough food to get her through. She is a bottle refuser so will have to have any milk she does have in a cup.
So i suppose my questions are how well were your babies eating by a year old, how/when did they transition to eating more, and how muh milk were they having during the day at 1.

By one L had a morning and night bf and cows milk in a cup in the afternoon. I stopped bf at 14 months with him
With I I stopped bf at 12 months he was eating really well and I'd say the sane as L milk wise but all cows milk

Mine was on 1 bf a day by 12m and the rest was cows milk (very soggy weetabix etc) and in cup. By 1 year he could eat a kids meal at pizza express! He likes his food

A is 11 months and his eating is quite hit and miss. Today he ate a third of a cheese sandwich plus a third of a mince pie which I was really impressed by, but then ate very little at dinner. Other days he barely eats anything all day and some days he eats quite a lot during the course of the day. He still breastfeeds quite frequently but I'm not sure how much is nutrition and how much is comfort, I don't always hear the "slurp" but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't drinking, so I'm not sure.
He will also be going to nursery at just over 1 year. I'm not too worried, they provide him formula (which I know he'll drink, whereas he rejects my expressed milk) and three meals a day. I figure if he's hungry he'll eat it, and I've been told that BF babies often "catch up" anyway when they're back home with mum. I'm sure nursery will give her milk in a cup, in fact I think you're meant to wean off bottles by a year so her being a bottle refuser won't be a problem.
I've heard that BLW babies don't understand that food fills their tummies until they're about 9 months old, so you still have time for this.

A is 9.5 months old. We've been doing BLW since 6 months and he eats like a horse! At 9 months we were still on 4 BF a day (first thing, mid morning, mid afternoon, bedtime), and then this week we have dropped the morning one, and now only have 3 a day - first thing, mid afternoon, and bedtime. Although for the past 2 days he's not been interested in the mid afternoon one so we'll probably be dropping that soon. So by the new year (10.5 months) we'll probably be down to 2 BF a day.
Oh, and A is a bottle refuser too, so he has only ever been BF by me.

My memory isn't great but miss cv started nursery a few weeks before she was 1 and I never had to bring bottles in so she must have been down to 2 a day. She certainly didn't go hungry.

My E is now 11 months too, and pretty much as saisi's A. She's offered and will eat something at, 3 proper meals a day and will also join in with two snacks at nursery but how much she eats really depends on her mood. Breakfast she always eats very well, the others are hit and miss. E isn't BF but won't have formula at the CMs, its too much fun we assume and she has water all day.. So we're on morning milk 6.30 ish, breakfast 7.45, snack 10, lunch 12.30, snack 3.30pm then milk 5.30 and tea 6pm. She then plays it different each bedtime sometimes having no milk, sometimes a few oz and occasionally 4-5oz. In an ideal world I'd like her to have her milk at bed but I insist that she eats with us, and she just can't last to tea without the milk..

Thanks all, sounds like she's more or less on track and will hopefully be eating more and having less milk by the time I need her to. I'm so worried that she won't be 'ready' for nursery but I guess she'll be fine :)

Nenas do you take her to any playgroups? I've recently started taking A and he really has come on in leaps and bounds in his interactions with other babies. Our local SureStart also does a friday morning creche, 10-12, where you leave the babies/kids downstairs and you go upstairs to talk to other mums. I was so nervous the first time but he was fine (we go every week to the centre for Stay and Play and have been for ages, so he did recognise the staff).
We used to only go to under-1s groups but since he got mobile, I've been worried he'll mash the teeny babies so we started taking him to older babies' groups and I do think it has made me feel much better about nursery where he will be the youngest (they only take them from the age of 1).

Not really, we meet up with my NCT friends and their babies quite a bit so there's often 2-3 other babies around. Lots of the mums are back to work in Jan so I'll need to get out and about a bit more so will aim for some playgroup type places

I suppose the other NCT babies are the same age, I do think being around older babies/toddlers helps more.

Yeah, the oldest is only 2 months older. She's so dinky and not on the move quite yet so I worry she'll get trampled... i need to step back and let her get on with it I think lol

M was on 4 bottles a day still when she started nursery at 11 months. She refused to let them feed her milk so dropped pretty much straight away to 2 bottles a day and her food intake upped dramatically.
You've got quite a while still to go though so I wouldn't worry xx
