Has anyone else self referred? I want to have bubs in the same hospital i had ds so i've done what i did that time and self referred (i live just outside the normal hospital catchment area, but i work here so i know the drill about Patient Choice). Anyway, I'm waiting for my booking in appt.
I remember this from last time now, this hospital are really slow at sending out appointments. I found out when my 20 week scan was two days before it, and only then because i went in there and asked.
Anyone else receiving appointments really last minute? It's a jolly good job i work here, because if i was having to arrange time off it would be a total PITA. As it is now i can just pretend i'm going to a meeting.

I did this with my first baby. I had very last minute appts, I didn't get my first scan till very late and I found that on discharge home after giving birth the local mws had absolutely no idea I'd been discharged. I was constantly on the phone to them and tbh didn't need the stress, so every other time Iv gone to the local hospital

well that explains it then, i've obviously always at the bottom of the pile. I'd rather give birth at home than in my local hospital so that's not an option. Luckily as i said, i work here, so i'll have to keep going down there and hassling them!

I worked at my hospital too , I think you are right though that local ladies got priority. It was fine (but annoying) that I'd to chase everything up but it was the care postnatally that annoyed me as no referrals done iyswim

Yeah that's rubbish. I was referred to the local trust for post natal care, and that was actually very good. I just really really don't want to give birth there. Hubs took DS there yesterday for a blood test and it took him nearly an hour to park and then the receptionist was really rude to him.

It must vary by area. At my booking in appointment she called the hospital and booked my scan date for 12 weeks.
Then when I went for my 12 week scan on my way out they booked my 20 week scan.

Well i went in there just now and asked, the (very friends i should say really) receptionist told me that she'd sent my letter out yesterday, (she remembered me specifically because she used to live on my road) and the appt is the 7th Nov, when i'll be 12+0. So I was slightly surprised and she said it's because they're so busy. I asked if my 12 week scan would be the same day and she said possibly, or after or BEFORE! which stunned me. It's a different department that sort out the scan dates, so yesterday she passed my referral to them, so i'll probably here from them in the next couple of weeks.
What was a bit irritating was she said that they're starting to run saturday clinics to catch up. One of the reasons that i referred here was that i work here and it's easier for appointments because i'm already here. Well i'm not already here on a saturday! Hopefully none of mine will be then!
