Has anyone done either? I always thought I wouldn't really want to breast feed whilst pregnant, but I don't really want to stop breast feeding J either, I guess I'll have to decide one or the other! If you're already breast feeding when you give birth how does your body know which type of milk to produce, presumably you make colostrum for the new baby even if you're still feeding another? I'm pretty certain I don't want to still be feeding J and a new baby, but I'm just musing.

I fed A while pregnant with L. She self weaned when I was about 6 months pregnant and I think this was because the supply changed, dropped a lot and looked like it was turning back to colostrum then. I would have tandom fed if she had wanted to continue but she was getting frustrated then gave up on her own.

I fed my son until a week before my daughter was born (he was 19 months). We were just down to one feed at bedtime and for the last few weeks I don't think he was getting much at all and I have to say that it was also excrutiatingly painful towards the end. About a week before my daughter was born I just said lets cuddle instead and after one or two nights with a wee moan at bedtime that was him finished.

I didn't but its very possible - google tandem feeding and you'll find loads of pics of Mum's breastfeeding a toddler & baby.
I do believe your milk might dry up or go 'sour' after 12weeks once the placenta takes over baby's care
