    Hi ladies,

Need some help again please. We're all so lucky knowing that someone on here will have the answer

I need to fit my base in my car so the car seat can clip on (maxi-cosi) but have no idea what the ideal side would be. The car seat is rear facing so on either side we won't be able to see bubba unless we get one of those mirrors but that a different conversation.

Anyway, do we have it behind the drivers side or behind the passengers side?

Any ideas and suggestions very welcome.

    Thanks

    Hi

I was told by Mothercare that there has to be a certain amount of clearance between the back of the baby car seat and the back of the front seats.

So they said that it would need to go behind the passenger seat in my car as I would have to move the driver seat forward and so they said that said it would not be safe for me to drive with it moved.

Am sure that they would help you to check it if you went in there.

    Hope that helps

Statistically, if you have a three point belt in the middle of the back seat, that's the safest place. Otherwise, I would put it on the passenger side purely because you tend to park with that side of teh car against the pavement more often, so you're not getting the baby out in the stream of traffic.

We have put ours behind the passenger seat too.

Our rationalle was that the driver would then be able to have a quick look round and check everything was ok when stopped at traffic lights etc (obv tricky with a rear facing seat, but still better than nothing!)

Think we are going to have to put ours behind the passenger seat too as when DH drives there is not enough room for him to have his seat where he needs it with the car seat behind the driver

Ours is a MaxiCosi with Isofix too and we've always had it behind the passenger seat, for the reason MrsSetters gives about getting baby out on the pavement side where possible.

    Thanks ladies,

In terms of getting the baby out, i was just going to make sure that i parked with that side on the pavement anyway as we live in a terrace house so only have on road parking.

Was really asking to see if theres a right and a wrong if you get my drift. Oh, so there has to be a certain clearance behind the back of whatever seat and the baby seat, i didn't know that. Might have to find out more then.

Was just thinking technically there is more room behind the passenger seat if i'm on my own but if hubby is with me then there's not as he is tall so has to have that seat all the way back. Ummm dilemnas, dilemnas!!! Actually, that means if i put the baby seat behind the passenger side hubby will always have to drive when we go out as a family, hehe, sounds like a plan

Mine will need to go on the passenger side as any car I drive I need to have the seat all the way back and there's never enough space to physically fit it in! Unless DH is driving, when it will need to go on the driver side obviously!

We have put the carseat in the car ready for D-Day and I have put it behind the passenger side, my daft reasoning is that if someone crashed into us they are more likely to hit the drivers side with oncoming traffic being that side. Although getting the baby in and out on the passenger side like Mrs Setters and PTB said makes much more sense lol!
