OH is having a minor meltdown that we do not have enough baby clothes for sparkles.
What should we have and in what quantity and size? Can someone help shush him up? :-)

What do you have so far?
I have mainly babygros as with B, I had him in them for about 6 weeks before I started on the outifts. I have about 20 so far ranging from newborn to 0-3m. We have bought about 9 vests so far for newborn and 0-3, more of the bigger size as I remember with B he was out of the newborn quite quickly.

I have also bought a few second hand 0-3 hoodies to go over them. I have just got two pairs of 0-3 trousers, need to start buying more actual clothes lol

We have bought hardly any real outfits apart from one for Xmas day. Probably about what you have in babygrows in the same range. More in the 0 - 3 month range though and less of the smaller stuff. Got vests too in 0 - 3 about 6 and then about 5 in a smaller size.
Have about 4 hats, 5 scratch mitts, socks and other bits. It's the babygrows I am unsure about really.

I thought I was being crazy with 20 but figured that the more I have, the less washing I need to be thinking about. I just can't keep buying them on the PP/DW selling page! lol.
Accessory wise, I have 5 hats, 2 pairs of scratch mitts and 3 pairs of socks which I will need more of once I start putting outfits on. I have 9 bibs and 3 muslins so far too!

I would say don't buy too much as you don't know what size they will be. I set up an amazon wish list before I went in to hospital so I knew exactly what I liked, particularly for Next as they do next day delivery. So then once we knew she was small I went on and ordered the stuff from my phone in hospital. Worked brilliantly.
If you have only got 0-3 mths then I would definitely get something smaller as well, put it this way Orla was 7lb 1oz when born - so not especially small - and at 8.5 weeks still isn't fitting in to 0-3 mths.
As for quantities I worked on 7 sleepsuits and 7 vests, 1 thick cardigan and that was it.

Remember also that people will buy you clothes as gifts. A lot of people tend to buy 3-6 as they think you will have loads in the smaller sizes so it may be worth telling people if they ask to stick the the smaller sizes. Saves you going out to buy things now too.
I was advised by a friend who recently had a baby not to go too mental as you will probably get some clothes as gifts too. I think I will do as Jelly baby did and buy enough so we aren't struggling but wait until she is here so we know what size she is and what else we might need to buy.

I am guessing that most of my family and OHs will buy more outfits rather than the basics. That is the impression I get from speaking to people. Especially her 3 aunties to be, they are already trying to outdo each other with the cutest dresses.
Sounds like we have more than enough if I get one pack of smaller babygrows.

I wouldn't buy much more. I have about 10 baby grows in newborn, a could up to 1 month and a couple in 0-3. 2 cardigans, 3 pairs socks and scratch mittens. Couple of hats. I'm you g to buy a star suit and that's me. I've always had loads of clothes as presents and as we haven't no e the sec before the baby has arrived H has nipped to get a couple of pink/blue baby grows when the baby has arrived. I liked that he bought them their first "outfit" and that's what they came home in.

I would echo what everyone else has said about not going mad until your baby is here. You will be able to easily order on line or, as we did, send proud grandparents out to buy stuff within the first few days! Until baby is here, you won't know what you need and I would say that one pack of baby grows are sufficient for the first few days

Right I will tell OH to calm the heck down now. We have more than enough to be going on with. He just likes planning and being prepared bless him. He made me start my hospital bag last night, he has been going on about that for 2 weeks!

Remember, 24 hour Tesco /asda are there if you need more. Our second was smaller than #1 and we had 4 sleep suits he wore on rotation, and now he has grown out of them and is in other ones. When they are small they grow so fast!

But on the flip side L wore 6 baby grows before we got home and he was only 15 hours old!

I had 14 sleepsuits and 14 vests with O and L and managed fine with that amount. In the early days, they weren't in outfits till about 5-6 weeks as the sleepsuits were more convenient and they didn't fit into 0-3 months till then, O was later.

We have far too many and she tends to be in the same 5 or 6 babygrows on rotation, yes 5 months tomorrow and she has worn two outfits so far!

At 16 weeks I still prefer him in babygrows so have day ones which are nicer, and more expensive, then night ones that I picked up in the sales and don't necessarily love. I'd buy more up to 1 month stuff as F was in newborn then up to 1 month until 8 weeks. My H had to go and buy more vests and sleepsuits as we were in hospital for 8 days and H didn't exactly have time to do washings when he was only home for 8 hours overnight. I had tons of clothes and whilst some would say too many it meant I didn't need to stress about washings in those precious first few days home or rushing out to the shops.
