B is nearly 8 weeks and we have had 2 nights off in that time from the cluster feeding. Now he seems be comforting more than feeding, he doesn't last long away from me. I am going to start expressing and try and get him to take a bottle of ebm but don't want to disturb the cluster feeding too much as I know it's helping my supply.
Did anyone else's baby cluster and if so, when did they stop? I have had a few meltdowns but always feel better the next day, just gets a bit too much sometimes.

Cluster feeding is completely normal and part of establishing breastfeeding. Personally I just used to set myself up on the sofa with the remote and drinks and snacks and quite enjoyed it, jobs were delegated ;) my son stopped about 17w when he set his bedtime to about 6.30 but he then woke more over night, I'd have rather he'd have cluster fed then had a nice long sleep afterwards!

Oh yes, that's what I have done, set up camp on the sofa when OH is home and he gets me drinks and snacks while we watch box sets of ER lol. I was just looking for a general idea of how long it lasts, have heard some stopped at 4 weeks, some go a lot longer.
I love the huge sleep afterwards, even if I have to do the school run, he lets me get him up, change his nappy, give him a very quick feed and then he goes to sleep in his pram and sleeps until about 11 :o) We co-sleep at night as he won't settle in his moses basket without my boob near him!

Might be a silly question Isis but was it everyday for you? I've heard they can also stop and start but he has been solidly every evening (bar two) since he was born.

It all sounds completely normal. There's growth spurts around 8w, 12w and 16w. The 16w can be a really big one but a lot of people find things improve after that.

I was advising someone on the 16 week one the other day as they were saying about weaning at 16 weeks so I said that the 16 week growth spurt is so big that a lot of people think they need to wean. I think we are going through the 8 week now as he is feeding a lot during the day now aswell.
Glad it sounds normal :) I only fed big B for 2 weeks so all new to me.

Thankyou both, I'm glad this is normal. Sometimes I just wonder if I am doing it all wrong! x

Yes it was everyday iirc, it was a while ago now so there might have been odd days I've forgotten about. It can happen at different times of the day, some cluster feed in the morning which would be a nightmare for us with the school run! I found it easier just to go with it but I like an easy life ;) I also used the sling a lot and found J actually fed less, I think if he was away from me he rooted more and showed hunger signs just because he wanted to be near me iykwim?

I was wondering about that last night. sometimes he can go half an hour in between feeds if I am there, but if I leave OH with him and pop in the bath for example, then he looks for it sooner. I need to look at slings still, there is a sling library on Friday near me :) Mornings would be awful here too! Glad he has fallen into an evening cluster and doesn't imterrupt the school run. We have only been caught out once so far on the school run, was dreading it tbh

I'm glad our school isn't far, hopefully we'll survive it! Sling library would be ace, def go and I'm happy to advise too, I've used loads of slings lol
