What coats do your school children wear? We have always driven to preschool due to distance but will be walking to school. What kind of thing do I need to be looking for?

C had a "school" coat, with their logo on when he first started school. It was waterproof (always a good idea), and had a removable fleece liner.
At junior school, he just wears a duffle coat in winter (and takes an umbrella when necessary), and a light weight jacket in summer.

Zoe had a fab one from Vertbaudet this year and I intend to get the same one again. It is kind of like a parka but had a removable furry lining in it so you can add that for more warmth as the winter sets in. Zoe's was a grey background with a really busy pattern on it which again was fantastic because it meant it his any marks

I'd get something fairly cheap and waterproof that will allow a school jumper etc underneath. Unless your child takes particular care of her clothes, don't waste money on an expensive, good quality one as chances are on a day that suddenly warms up it will be abandoned on the playground or put on the wrong peg etc. I'm hoping to get one in the Next sale as I got C a lovely one from there last year, it was a bargain at half price and has worn well. Better still the shower proof material meant it is wipe clean so a wet wipe has quickly made her look presentable! It's also a good idea to get a cheap, thin waterproof jacket that you can leave in her school bag for days that the sun suddenly turns to rain, so you're not caught out.
