Hi, sorry to post on this again!
i had my scan last wed and bloods taken the same day. They told me the 'new policy' at my hospital is that you don't get a letter, the results take approx 2 weeks so if by the end of 3 weeks you haven't heard anything then everything is ok, on a no news is good news basis. If something is wrong they will call me before then.
For no real reason but I'm really worrying over the results! I think it's because my H is so confident all is well as the baby was wriggling away on the scan and he's told his family and friends now and I'm scared to tell people yet. Anyway, I get home today from work to an appointment card from the hospital to go back on fri to have my bloods redone. So if I'm honest now, I'm stressing out. All it says is an error with my previous samples (they took about 6 lots for various tests). So this puts me back to square one on the waiting time for them to do it all again. And I know I'm probably being silly but I can't help worry that something is actually wrong and they want another sample to check.
I asked at the scan if they could give me any indication and she just said no that they don't give any initial comment on the scan and its all down to the combined score. I did then outright ask what the measurement was and she said 1mm and that it was within the 'norm' but meant nothing without the bloods.
Not sure why I'm posting this, I just have to write it down I think to try and get rid of some of my anxiety about this!
in terms of getting my bloods done again, will it cause any problems doing the combined test when the scan measurement and the blood were done 10 days apart? I noticed on the form she was filling in for the nuchal results that it said date of scan/bloods?

1mm is a really good nuchal fold measurement- I'm sure they only do further investigation immediately if over 3.5 mm. Obviously its more accurate when combined with the blood test Mine for T was 2.1 mm and for H can't remember but was low risk when bloods came back. I think it's really bad re postcode lottery with health provision - we get a letter telling us the combined score here in Edinburgh - I don't understand why there is not a standard protocol across the country. Try not to worry x
i think so long as you are under 13+6 then its fine to have the bloods done on friday. the nuchal of 1mm is a really good result but the hospital are right as it doesnt mean much on its own (if its low, if its high then depending how high, most hospitals will go on high risk iyswim, my nuchal was 5 and we didnt have bloods as it was a significant result, research has shown that if the nuchal is raised its a more accurate indicator than the bloods but obviously they still like to combine the results)
so whilst we cant say without the blood results that all is well, i think you should look at a nuchal of 1mm being a really postive thing.
wrt to looking into things further, can you get intouch with ARC, they have a website and their phone no is on the back of your maternity notes, it explains all about the antenatal testing, they are a really good service. they generally are there for people who are having investigations for abnormalities but they are there to help with problems with investigations so they may be able to shed more light on when the bloods can be done.
fx for a nice low result after the bloods are finally done

KB I'm only in fife so a stones through from you and no letter!
Thanks CP, I don't have my notes either they took them off me and kept them at the hospital and said I'll get them back at my 20 week scan (that's the 'norm'!) She also said thats when my midwife would be able to confirm i was low risk as it would be in my file by then!! I know to them this is just an everyday thing but its alot to me and I can't stop myself worrying. I actually cried tonight when I got that letter, which i know will just sound reduculous, but I was thinking by the end of this week I will tell a few more people as it would be likely that I was out of the woods sort of thing, now I'm back to scratch. I'll be between 16 and 17 weeks now before I'm out of the waiting for the call window.
