Just found out I'm pregnant, so as NHS direct suggests called my doctors surgery to see if I needed and initial appointment. They then gave me the number of the local midwife centre, so I called them who they directed me to call another number to make a booking appointment.
Do I not need to see the doctor before my scan which I assume is my booking appointment or is this something different!?

Your booking in appointment will be with a midwife. She'll fill out your maternity notes, calculate your due date and arrange your 12w scan. Booking in normally happens around 8-10 weeks

Thanks Purple Star. It would be helpful if the NHS gave that info about how many weeks you are. I'm all good then as I'm only 4/5 weeks.

Sorry to jump on your post...
i did the exact same thing. Went to my doctors and they gave me a number to ring my local midwife. I rung them and they took my information such as age, my address, my LMP and worked out a due date from that. A couple of days later I got a letter through telling me to ring the hospital up and book my dating scan in. I did this and they said they had not received anything through. So I rang my midwife back and she said she had sent it 2 weeks ago and they should have received it. She said she would ring the hospital and then ring me back. This was over a week ago now. I left it and rang the hospital again yesterday and guess what? exact same excuse. They have nothing..
I know i am only 6+3 but i've not had any other letter about a booking in appointment or nothing. It's stressing me out been back and forth all the time.
