So last week I went for a scan which showed I was 6w5d which would of been from the 31st July. This is the tricky part. I finished my normal period on the 30th of July. My scan says pregnant from the 31st July. I was ovulating from the 5th to the 10tj of August and remembered sleeping with my partner on the 7th, exactly a week from the 31st July. A midwife lady told me I would of conceived between the 5th - 10th August. Which would of made me 5w5d Even tho my scan shows me as 6w6d. Is she right ? Is the scan just a rough estimate ? They did not include the first date of my lmp in the scan. I slept with my partner on the 31st July and the 7th August? Im havjng trouble beleiving When did I coneive ?

Hi, you have to factor in the fact you don't typically conceive the day you DTD, conception is after ovulation, and fertilisation and is difficult to pinpoint precisely.
It is usually within a few days of ovulation tho
Scans give the precise gestation of baby, and the due date will be the one that the drs use, your LMP dates are the guide as there are so many variables -ovulation can vary by a week in some cases! So the scan is most accurate.
As the dates haven't varied by much I wouldn't worry xx any date adjustment of upto 10 days is normal to get when you have a scan due date from a LMP date xx
Hope this helps x

Also remember the pregnancy is counted technally from the beginning of the cycle if your dates have been altered by a week it just means that you ovulated at the end of your fertility window and not the start x very few pregnancies are given the same due dates by both LMP and scan.

Hey thanks so much for the info,
My lmp date would make me 8w 3d but the scan says I'm currently 7w3d, if I go by my gut, when I was ovulating it would make me 6w3d my midwife thinks I would of conceived during my ovulating week. I just wanted more opinions if its really possible. as I've been told scans are just estimates, the lady that was doing my scan, during the scan she told me how far I was but then said to me I wouldn't of conceived until a week after my period, but still marked me as 6 weeks pregnant a day after I finished my period. even tho she said I would have conceived a week later which would of made me 5weeks. Why did she still put me down as 6 weeks? I just find it weird and its been running through my mind constantly. I beleive I'm 6weeks now, and so does the midwife I spoke to. But more oppions would help.

It's confusing I know but pregnancy is not counted from conception - its counted from the beginning of the cycle - usually the week before ovulation!
When someone finds out their af is missed and gets a bfp they are usually only a week or two past conception but are classed as 4 weeks pregnant as you count the beginning of the cycle too
The scan dates will give you the precise gestation of the baby to the day and the hospital will use this more accurate due date to go by.
This date is usually a bit different from the LMP dates as the time it takes from ovulation to conception and implantation can vary from a few days upto around 12 days.
Honestly don't worry, just follow the date the scan gave you xx
