What contreception did you use after giving birth? We both dislike condoms, and I'm breastfeeding. I'm hoping to start TTC again in a year or so. So what did you use??

None, I carried on temping and just didn't DTD inside my fertile window. This was once I'd stopped breastfeeding though. As you can see, the plan was foolproof...ahem.

Abstinence! For about 10 weeks, then I just went back on the pill. I'll come off it about 6 months before trying again to regulate my cycles. Maybe try the implant if you want to TTC relatively soon, I think fertility returns to normal straight away with that.

Between J and V I used the mini pill as I was breastfeeding. I got pregnant second month off it. I've now got a coil, as we're probably done I think.

I'm breastfeeding & have used cezerette mini pill since R was 6 weeks old, it didn't effect my milk supply. I've been told that I have to take it the same time everyday & not to miss a day ... which I may have done by accident this weekend so fingers crossed no baby number 2 for me soon!!

I went on the mini pill six weeks after birth but didn't like the side effects so came off it after a couple of months. However we didn't actually need contraception until L was about nine months old due to some overly tight stitches (sorry if tmi) so since then we've just used condoms. Not ideal as we both dislike them, but the combined pill was causing me issues prior to ttc and as we know we want to ttc again soonish we decided to just sort it out after number two.

We don't like condoms either but we plan on TTC when J is a year & he took 2yrs to conceive so not going onto anything hormonal. OH is delighted at the prospect (not) !

We don't like condoms either but knew we were going to start ttc again a few months later, so we stuck to them for then. Didn't seem worth going back on the pill for that short amount of time.

Same as sasasi.
I had very erratic periods after coming off the pill to ttc #1. Found out I had pics and so we agreed while pregnant that afterwards I wouldn't go back on the pill so I could keep a track of my periods.
We planned to ttc #2 when w was 12mths so as much as I hate them I didn't want the pill.
Now though we are unsure if we want a third, we think probably not but still we've both agreed I shouldn't go on the pill just in case

I went on the pill about 6 months after W was born as my periods were very heavy and the cramps were horrendous. Came off the pill at the end of June, first month, my cycle was 2 days longer (I used opks to work out how long my cycle was) and then we started trying the following month, my cycle was normal that month (again using opks to track) and we fell pregnant! I don't think the pill mucks up your system as much if you're only on it for a short period of time, but that might just be my experience)

Nothing, just breastfed. Was TTC pretty much straight away. Took 10 months to get preggers again. I wouldn't recommend that to you though.

We are planning a five year gap so I am going to get the Mirena Coil I think. Should we change our mind and want a shorter gap, I would either track my fertile window, or use condoms (Durex Elite are fab as far as condoms go, neither of us like them but both agree that these ones are the best). I wont ever go back on a general hormone contraceptive, it was only when I came off the pill that I realised how much it had contributed to me feeling cr@p over the years. It totally messed up my emotions, and I'm sure that it played a part in bouts of depression for me...but I know many people get on fine with it.
