    PM

we went to nhs antenatal classes held at the hospital when we were pregnant with #1.

We've now moved area and here the classes are done by the sure start centres. I've had a call from them today to ask if I want to book on the course. I said no as I've already done it with #1. But I went to a toddler group this afternoon where i saw the woman I'd spoke to on the phone so was talking to her about it. She said they get quite a few second time parents doing the classes as it helps refresh things and is also good for meeting mums due the same time as you.

l do a lot of groups with W but they are now all toddlers, so it would be good to meet other people who will have newborns the same time as me, so I'm tempted to do it just for that reason really. I don't feel I need to know any info as I'm having a planned CS so don't need all the info on labour, pain relief etc.

i just worry I would feel like a fraud going to the class as I've already been through it before and worry people would think I was strange for doing the class when I already had been through it.

Has anyone else done the classes second time round? We're you the only one in your class who was a second time parent and if so did you feel a bit weird?

I suppose it depends on how long the age gap, what kind of delivery you had first time and if you wanted reassurance about a VBAC etc, if you are new to an area and will be delivering in a different hospital and making new potential friends. It sounds like you don't really need to do them. I'm sure your current group of friends 'enough' for you and will be pleased to have your newborn join in the group.

Carole my current friend group are all very excited about new baby and I've made them all broody!!

It's more just to have friends with LO's the same age to have things in common with. Plus I'm a SAHM and most of my current 'mummy friends' are coming to the end of their mat leave and going back to work.

I think what I'm just going to do is make the effort to go to baby massage from early on. I took W and really enjoyed it so if I do that with #2 hopefully I can meet people that way.

I was interested in doing the NCT second time parent classes, but they covered such a big due date range that I didn't feel I would get what I was looking for out of it, which was basically that group of you going through the same thing at the same time.
