Just wondering if any of you got a negative test result around the time your af was due, but then went on to find out you were actually pregnant? How long did you wait before taking another test?

    Thanks

I had no idea when exactly my period was due (sorry if I sound dim but what does af mean?), so i waited as long as i could and then did 2 tests, both of which were positive. At the docs a few days later we established that i was about 7 weeks gone by then.

I was feeling rather sick for a few weeks and had tummy pains so decided to do a pregnancy test. My periods were really irregular, they varied between one month to 2and a half months so the fact that I hadn't had a period in 35 days didn't make me think I was pregnant but I just felt that something was different.

The first test I did was negative so I went to the doctors, the doctor said that the tummy aches and sickness were to do with my Irritable Bowel syndrome but it felt different to that (I've suffered from IBS for 10years and i'm 26 now). He prescribed me some different pills for the IBS which did nothing for me. (in fact now i'm worried they may have done me harm!)

2 weeks later and i was still feeling sick, tired and my tummy felt different. My partner suggested that i did another test. I didn't think it was that likely that I was pregnant as both my partner and i thought we may have fertility issues (for various reasons that i wont go into now). But low and behold, I did the test and this time as clear as day, the test was positive! I did a further test just to be sure... the 2nd pink dot was as clear as the 1st test.

With hindsight, my symptoms were really obvious... nausea, tummy feeling weird, a bit mood swingy, aching boobs etc. I'm a bit annoyed that the doctor didnt pick up on it (I feel silly enough myself!) I was definitely pregnant when I did the 1st test but it just didnt show.

Anyway, I'm 11 weeks now and i've got my 1st scan next week... Its all very exciting.. and perhaps a little scary too!
