Daily fail article that apparently 40% of new mums get an expensive present for having a baby.
I didn't expect anything but half joked about an eternity ring. I was wondering if this trend is something real or imgained up by the press.
So did you get a 'push present'?

I got a baby both times which in all honesty was all I wanted anyway. I'd rather H not waste the money when family life is changing iyswim .

My thoughts exactly Coco!

I will just get the baby and perhaps some flowers at a push (no pun intended)!

H did run and get me a Costa shortly after birth actually if that counts, haha!

Great gift Coco!

Same as coco, both times I got a baby and I also got a cake and brew from Costa

I'm hoping for a hot chocolate!
No. Seems silly to waste money at a very expensive time!

I also got a coffee from costa! I sense a trend...!
I didn't get anything. Tbh I was a little disappointed he didn't even get me a card or a bunch of flowers. Maybe it's a bit selfish but I was pretty battered and bruised and a card would have been nice! I got him a 'daddy' mug which I ended up presenting to him in tears two days after giving birth! I got it out from it's hiding place and asked if he wanted a drink and he said no. I made one anyway and gave it to him crying because I thought he'd rejected my present (which he didn't even know he had!) Hormonal mess!

I didn't get a push present OR a costa coffee. Now the H is for it.... ;)
Nah in seriousness, we don't have the money to spend on this sort of thing, and the sort of money an eternity ring would cost, would be better spend elsewhere for us as a family at the moment. For arguments sake, if we did have the money it would be a nice gesture but not at all expected.

No, nothing here. I would have appreciated something small, just flowers or something, but anything more would have just been a waste of money at a time when we needed every spare penny! I don't think I know anyone who got anything, think this may be a trend among celebs only!

I informed him about the eternity ring tradition. He laughed.
I got a peppermint tea from Costa (clearly the Coffee shop of choice in hospitals) and a bag of skittles!
It was Mother's Day the week after and I got a lovely card an acrylic photo block of Rhema's feet which made me cry buckets...
I think it's hopeful and I don't think it will catch on here but I said that about Bridal Showers and I was invited to three this year!

Nope, nothing here either. I was so zonked I don't think I would have noticed either way :-)

No, I didn't expect anything. He's been amazing since L was born, so supportive and doing things round the house. That is more important to me than a gift. Plus, I wouldn't be interested in an eternity ring, I don't really get them, surely my wedding ring is for eternity? Saying that if I don't get a Mother's Day pressi I will cry!

I did! But it was the baby change bag that I wanted, so it was at least a practice gift. Think I might be sending H to Costa this time around!
10/09/2014 at 21:54
I got an M&S sandwich, 2nd time it was from Asda, standards clearly slipped!!
I don't think there's a Costa near my hospital.

I did, my H apparently read up and thought it was the 'done thing' ! I got a day at a spa for when I felt able to leave the baby for a bit! I had it when my LO was 10 weeks old- had a lovely massage and my nails done- made me feel human again! I didn't ask effort one though and wouldn't have been bothered if he had got me nothing

Nowt. Folks got me a relevant pandora charm though.
I have been thinking about getting OH the new Man United shirt as he has been amazing this past year & has been fabulous running round after me recovering from c-section & generally being a great father....but I might be miserable & not bother lol
