I'm just wondering why the standard advice if anyone gets a line on a test is to go and do a digital. Surely a line is a line, even a faint one is a positive result, and you're therefore pregnant?

I think its because people have had a faint line and its turned out they aren't pregnant, whereas with a digi test you are told pregnant or not pregnant and if its a posh one how many weeks gone you are. I've had false positives before in the past Ive also had a negative result with a normal line test one day and a positive the next, the digi ones are just more specific x

Are false positives that common if the test has been read at the right time? I've always just assumed a positive is a positive- maybe I've just been lucky!

Ive no idea how common they are SG x

False positives are rare. Do you mean advice on here? I think it’s more a combination of people like seeing the words, and also that you can’t imagine or embellish the words.

I think it's more to put peoples mind at ease. If you only get a faint line then sometimes people worry it's not positive enough and seeing the word 'pregnant' instead removes any doubt on whether or not the line is a line.

What PS said.
Also, I'm a poas addict and I kept using the CBD so I could see the number of weeks go up.

Maybe you have just been lucky, people have early mc and chemical pregnancies,so a positive isn't always a positive. Also I know a lot of people who have had losses like to see the conception indicator rise on a digital too as they then know that things are progressing, also people like just seeing the words too

I used a Tesco test, got BFP and no one (here, real life or GP) suggested I go digital. I didn't really know digital ones existed to be honest.

Yeah, what purple star said. My line was so faint I wasn't sure I hadn't peed a bit on the wrong part so went to buy a CBD

When i did my test it was a strong positive but id shaken the test and then wasnt sure if by doing so id messed something up. I had to get to work and did a digital as it seemed more foolproof.
