C is approaching her first birthday so I'm getting ready to ditch the bottles but I can't remember how I did this with E so wondering if anybody has any advice/experience. I also want to move onto cows milk and don't know whether to make both switches at the same time or stagger them.
At the moment she has 3 bottles of formula a day, morning, mid afternoon and before bed. I was thinking of starting with the mid afternoon one, and giving her a beaker of cows milk instead. I tried this a few weeks ago and she poured it all over herself so I'm a bit worried she'll not get enough milk. She's at nursery 5 days a week and I hate not being there to encourage her to drink.
Anybody any experience, this is the first time I've felt like I wish I was at home with her instead of working!!

I swapped to beakers at the same time. She was already used to water in beakers and cows milk on cereal so neither was a new concept.
I did a couple of bottles with cows milk and she didn't notice any difference so i swapped to beakers. It did take a week or so for her to get back to drinking the same amount of milk with a beaker and we have to be on beaker watch with milk or she thinks its funny to pour it out but over all it's fine. P was already on just 2 milk feeds per day so i just swapped them both to beakers.
Don't forget that by now most of her nutrition comes from food, not milk anymore. So on the first few days where she didn't drink as much i just made sure she had some extra cheese and yoghurt etc so she kept her calcium uptake up. I worried about it at first but went with the flow andit's been fine. Some days she only wants ha;f a beaker each time, others she'll down 2 each time!

W refused to drink milk from various cups until I bought a cup/bottle thing with an inbuilt straw. It's in the lid so you flip it down to close it and its got a little valve in the straw so it doesn't all just pour/spill out. I think the problem we had us she associated water with her normal cups and so didn't like it when she then had milk in it.
The one with the straw is used solely for milk , morning and evening and she happily drinks from it.
As for switching to cows milk I was worried about it but she didn't seem to notice the difference. Perhaps switch to the cup first and then once she's happy with it switch to cows milk or vice versa, just so its not two new things at once. But from anyone I know they've never had any probe switching to cows milk .
Good luck! X
I tried to give G cows milk in a beaker but she wouldnt take it. I had to put formula in a beaker first, then i did 50/50 cows milk and formula in a beaker and gradually weaned her off the formula.

I just went straight to putting cows milk in a beaker IIRC. I didn't ditch the bedtime bottle until a couple of months later but with the daytime one I just gave it in a cup and they could either drink it or not. It took a few days of refusing it until they realised there was no other option and they both took it quite happily out a cup then

Thanks ladies. I think I'm really panicking over nothing, and your replies have all helped me to calm down already. You've also reminded me of sme of what i did with E which helps a lot.
I think I'll go and get some new cups for milk in the morning and night time as I have tried giving her a small amount of milk in a beaker and she spat it out because I think she associates them with water. (thanks jellytot)
I also think I did the 50/50 thing for E, so thanks for reminding me MaisieMoo, I'd totally fogotten I could do that.
Feeling better already ladies - you're great :)
