Does any one know what a CAFCASS section 7 report is and what it means? What will happen after it's completed? Would really appreciate any advice given.

A cafcass report is a report filed to assist the judge in court proceedings concerning children. A cafcass is a court welfare officer and will makes various investigations as to the wishes and feelings of the child/ren involved in contact or residence disputes (amongst others). They will consider the issue in dispute between the parents and speak to the parties, children, school etc to establish what is in the children's best interests. The findings will then be reported to the judge who will often take on board the recommendations and make a decision or encourge the parties to settle the dispute based on the report.

The cafcass website should have a lot more information but let me know if you have any more questions

Ok, thank you. We're really worried about it. So what do the CAFCASS people want to find out? Just what the child wants. The other party is making very big false accusations. Will they try to find out the truth or what? Sorry for all the questions.

Yes they will look at the allegations raised and try and get to the bottom of it and how the dispute can be resolved in the best interests of the child. They will asses the situation and what can be done to improve matters. The cafcass officer is an independent third party who is often viewed as a spokesperson for the child. Try not to be worried, cafcass' role is to help families and will try and help families look forward. Hope that helps a bit
