Just wondering when is the earliest time you can have one of these scans and whether anyone has any experience.
We were told by the consultant that we could have an early scan next time but I didn't ask at the time when this would be!
Any help would be appreciated.

Im not 100% and Im sure ladies who have had early scans will correct me but i think it is about 7 weeks that you can pick up a heart beat.

Thanks Mrs Bass but its more about the structure of the heart rather than the heartbeat itself.

I had a scan at 9 weeks and they could see a lot of the heart and a good strong heartbeat there. That heartbeat is now a cheeky 9 month old.

I had a heart structure scan at 16 weeks, however they did say to get a clearer picture they would look again at 21 weeks.

i had one at 17 weeks, but like vlvixon said the consultant said he'd be happier doing it over 20 weeks. he said he owuld do the scan and likely rescan over 21 weeks but at the 17 week scan there was enough info for us to know that he'd extremely bad abnormalities so we had a TFMR
i had raised nuchal too and they said they would do an early nuchal as a grossly raised nuchal may be noticable earlier so i had one at 10 weeks then back again at 12.
