im planning to bf this baby like I did with W. but I was also advised last time from early on to express to give top ups after bf as she was quite big and hungry!
MIGHT used mainly tommee tippee closer to nature anti colic ones last time- the ones that have the tube bit that goes down the middle of the bottle. They were good but a faff to wash so many bits and then the inside bits started falling off all the time so they were useless in the end. So I've thrown those out but still have a load of avent ones that use want to use this time to same money buying new bottles. So I just need to bury new teats.
ive looked online and you seem to be able to get a size 0 teat for new born and a size 1 teat for 1month plus. My question is how much difference is there between them. I'm only going to be giving her maybe one bottle a day so not a great deal of use, and don't want to buy newborn teats and only use them a few times before having to buy size 1. But obviously if there's a big difference in the flow I don't want to just buy size 1. But surely there can't be much difference if the next size is for a one month old?
sorry I seem to have made a simple question really long!

I used them from 6mths so not really helpful but I think you csn get variflow ones that would prevent you having to buy lots of different sizes x

My little man was on formula top ups from 7 days old and he went straight onto number one teats.... we are now on number two teats but I guess ill have to buy number 3 soon as he is 11 weeks old now.

I was going to suggest variflow too. Although, be careful buying too many teats straight away as we had the avent bottles and O couldn't drink from them. We ended up buying stupid amounts of teats to try and find one that she liked and could use. We ended up with the MAM teats with the avent bottles.

Boogie... Didn't realise that you could use different teats in avent bottles. I'm now wondering whether to go for number 3 or variflow!

Sorry for only just getting back to this.
I had no idea you could you different brands of teats, that's really good to know.
I think I will just buy a two pack to begin with so I have some in ( I'm hoping to be bf anyway so the bottles would only be used for top ups if necessary). And then if she seems happy with them I can buy more. But really good to know the mam teats work as its another option to try if she doesn't like the avent ones before having to fork out for new bottles

Remember that BF top ups aren't necessary really unless baby is having issues getting the milk from you directly, just feed on demand.
You want baby to establish your supply so feeding rather pumping is best initially.
By all means give a bottle but you don't necessarily *need* too just because you have a big hungry baby.
Miss I is 91st centile and a chunk, she feeds 10 minutes 4 hourly and sleeps 12-8 at night, big babies don't necessarily mean they need loads of milk, she's obviously just efficient and gets what she needs.

Wow is she sleeping 12-8 already, that's very good!
I'm not planning to top up unless I have to. It's just I was told by the paediatrician (sp?) in hospital that I needed to and then also by the MW once I was back home as she was slow to gain weight. So I want to be prepared for if I have to again. I know I could wait and just get H to pop to a 24hr supermarket if the need arose but I've bought so little for this baby with it being my second I feel the need to buy things now as I just don't feel like I've done anything at all to prepare!

Poor neglected second baby, we were the same!
Avent are Miss I's bottle of choice when she feels like it!
