I really don't have much news since Friday. The IVF news has sunk in a bit and I've been reading about what it involves. Egg collection sounds horrendous! Apart from that I am feeling quite positive. I had a lovely meet up with some Hitchers this weekend and they thoroughly cheered me up and reminded me that life is good.

Sorry I've been a bit AWOL. NG told me you were asking after me and I'm so touched you were thinking of me. I'm all good just taking a step back after the IUI didn't work and if I' m honest I found the whole procedure frankly traumatic so I'm not looking forward to the next cycle. Also with my new job I can't get on during the day so was finding I wasn't getting on until really late and then couldn't reply the next day.
How are you all? It's exciting you have a plan for ivf ducky-I hope you get to start soon although I've seen others on here who've said the down regging is really hard. I think I'll be joining you so will have plenty of questions for you.
Hello to all laters and lurkers. I may not be on but it doesn't mean I'm not thinking about you and hoping this thread is soon defunct because we're on the tri threads xx

Hey hope everyone is well.
Ducky - good to hear you are feeling positive about things. Really hope you only need to go through it once iykwim!
KK - it's good to hear from you hope you are ok. I understand you wanting to take a step back. So what's next for you?
AFM - got my appointment on Wednesday so feeling a bit up and down about it. I'm excited for what the future holds as we may be moving forwards but nervous about if clomid doesn't work or if for some reason they decide to delay clomid or suggest something else. I know its stupid but I can't help it. I am mainly looking forwards to it though I think. Means we will hopefully have a plan. I've been reading up about clomid but the stats are so confusing I don't know what to believe. Especially as it appears i am ovulating on my own. Meanwhile the EWCM has started (bit later than expected due to stress i think) so we're at fertile time! X

nothing to report here but nice to see you Kitty, big hugs to you. Traumatic experiences are not good :( I've not ventured to find out the exactly whats expected in procedures, I am really hoping I dont need it! but we'll see. 21 bloods this friday, hoping they arent low like last months. I'm back at work also so not about as much. xx

Ducky, glad you are feeling positive. Hope you are enjoying life a bit more now that you have 8 weeks or so before it all begins.
KK hugs to you, sorry it was such a traumatic experience and you didn't get the outcome you were hoping for. How is your new job going? Hopefully it provides a bit of distraction from dtc!
Browny, good luck on wed. If you start clomid then there are a few of us on it and available for hand holding. I find it easier to focus one stage of it at a time I.e blood test then scan then next blood test then 2 ww, I set a day in my head when I will test if af hasn't arrived etc. I know it's easier said than done thought not to look forward and think about what happens if it doesn't work.
MB good luck for blood test on fireday. Fngers crossed for a better result this time.
So it is CD 41 here and this is from the 22-24 day cycle gal !!! Had another blood test yesterday and they think I have ovulated after the trigger shot so we will see ..... this is what they said on CD 19 as well. I am over my anger and disappointment from last week (see last weeks thread). Just hoping if we have not been lucky that af arrives soon. Not expecting success as one consultant did think eggs would be pretty useless now and we didn't get to dtd as much as I would have liked. H is going back to England for almost a month at the end of May so with this long cycle we will now only get in one more try with clomid before he goes rather than the 2 I was hoping for. Though I am not that impressed with clomid at the moment anyway,

MB - good luck for Friday lets hope its good news.
Diamonds - sorry your cycles have messed up but let's hope you ovulated. My fingers are crossed for you!
AFM - had my appointment and he prescribed clomid. Was given lots of slips for various blood tests but only for the first cycle. I have another appointment in 12 weeks otherwise it looks like I've been left to it! I have 3 months worth of 50mg tablets to be taken CD2-6. Had a blood test today but not sure what it was checking for. He was very rushed and all he said about side effects were it might make me moody and there is an increased risk of multiples (1 in 15 rather than 1 in 60).
Everyone else that's on clomid have you been left to just take the tablets or are you being monitored by blood tests and/or scans? X
17/04/2013 at 12:12
I had scans. If it looked like my ovaries were going to respond, I would have had a timed blood test to check I ovulated. I guess blood tests are better than nothing. Will you use OPKs to try and time your '21' day bloods? Also, if the first month at 50mg is unsuccessful at getting you to ovulate, are you allowed to progress to 100mg or will you have to wait until your next app?
Overall I was really disappointed with clomid, but I think I had set very high hopes for it :-(. I really hope you don't get the hot flushes, I still get them now! And I REALLYhope you ovulate well on it.
Regarding multiples, the chance of twins (or more) on injections and timed intercourse was 1 in 4. My husband almost had a heart attack!

MB - Good luck for Friday!
Diamonds - I can't believe show much clomid has messed up your cycles. I thought it was supposed to help! Do you you know how any more goes you're going totrybefore moving on?

Just a quick question snd I will come back later for personals.
Can we talk about lube? We used concieve plus last time and got the elusive bfp but I was talking to ob and hatrick the other day who both really rated pre seed. Has anyone tried it? Experiences? Success?
17/04/2013 at 13:27
Hi all, I am sorry that I have not posted really since my initial introductory post, you might remember that I was waiting for a HSG test that fell right in the middle of a week away before going onto Clomid due H testing 90% sperm antibodies (after a vasectomy reversal), well the news from me is that I never made the HSG as AF didn’t show on time and after 10days and on my birthday I go my very first BFP, and I am 7 weeks today.
I feel a real fraud posting under DTC but it was so unexpected as we were told our chances were very slim, as you can imagine I am petrified that something will go wrong, but am trying to be positive, we are having a private visibility scan on Friday and I hope that puts my mind at rest.
Navy Girl, we only ever used conceive Plus and obviously had a success.
Thanks for all your replies to my initial post

NG - I like pressed. It is the most 'normal' lube we tried. Many fertility ones are very heavily water based which means they don't keep their slipperiness very long and dry up after a couple of minutes playing (TMI, probably). Zestica is particularly shite.
I have an unused box of preseed if you'd like it. I think I'm your friend on FB (Sam O) so just send me you address in a PM and I'll post it this week :-)
17/04/2013 at 14:04
Ducky that's really kind. I can send you a couple of individual concieve plus if you want to try them? X
17/04/2013 at 16:59
Thanks for the info ducky - no I just have the bloods on the first cycle with clomid but I won't get the results until the appointment 12 weeks later and by then I will have probably had 3 cycles depending on how quickly I ovulate. Nope I just have 3 cycles at 50mg before I go back :/ 1 in 4!!! Gosh I think I'd have had a heart attack! Wowza that's high!
NG - we have used preseed but we have nothing to compare it to. It's fine but h finds it a bit 'slippery' lol so we don't use as much as it says on the packet.
Echo - congrats! Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy xxx

Clomid query - i went for bloods and a scan x2 on month 1 and the doctor saw said to go for bloods but not bother again with scans.
went for 2nd month of bloods and got the low count.
Just finished with my 3rd cycle - have 3 more months to take. Consultant has arranged to see me for a follow up appt on the 1st May. Dont know whether H needs to come to that one too.... any ideas?
if we did have multiples it wouldnt surprise us as both of our parents are twins!
Conceive plus - used it twice this cycle as i bought the 8 applicator box so it was less messy to use and i'm really keeping ny fingers xd its worked for us too...
congrats to you echo, hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.
17/04/2013 at 22:11
I have never used lube, never needed it, when/how do you use it? Sorry if answering is TMI for some but I'm really seriously curious!
17/04/2013 at 22:20
Well preseed I use the applicators to put it 'up there.' It is a substitute EWCM and I have never had EWCM.
Normal lube we use to errrrm make playing with each other manually slipplier. It is much easier to play with a slippy willy!
My husband had never used lube before he met me, so you can't be the only ones out there. No need to blush my lovely.
NG - Thanks for the offer of the conceive plus, however, I will politely decline as Im quite enjoying rebelling from any sensible baby-making paraphanlia.
17/04/2013 at 22:22
Answering clomid question first! I had scan on cd 14 and then again 21 to see if there was any improvement. Then had bloods 3 days after that to check if ov had actually happened.
Kk, lube! In the days before dttc we used as a bit of fun during the pre dtd actual. Now I'm desperate and using the concieve plus I kind of give navy boy the wink and put it where it needs to go! It's not that romantic but probably no worse than stopping to put a condom on. Sorry if I'm over sharing xx
we thought we'd gve it a try, for all I know I might have hostile cm, but it in theory should help the sperm as well. I got little tubes, twist the end of, insert and squeeze. I had a 15 min window to use the stuff.....wasnt really aware of it so that was good. Cost me about £13 for 8 wee tubes.
17/04/2013 at 22:23
Think we replied at the same time Ducky! Will pm you my address later. Thanks again xx
