Hi ladies, well I went for an early scan today (requested by the hospital not me!) and it was a bit of a waste of time tbh!  They didn't know why I was there so early, I have had only 1 (!) miscarriage last October, so they said that would not be cause for a scan.  She said they had a small note mentioning I have had a previous DVT but that was way back in 2008 and I have never had an early scan before with my last two pregnancies!  SO anyway, she said so you are 8 weeks and I said no, I don't think I am 8 weeks til Sunday.  So she said riiiight well we will have a look anyway and see.  Scan on belly and she said she was struggling to see, she showed the screen to us and we could all see a sac and DH and I thought we could see something small a white blob attached but she didn't want to confirm anything either way.  She made me go for a wee and then did an internal scan (Which does not hurt btw, it is just uncomfortable afterwards) - she said this is worse for seeing which is very odd - gee thanks!! So they kept asking am I sure of my dates and I said well as sure as anyone can be at this stage!! They let me get dressed and said it looks like it is too early to see, so come back next week...!!  We came home and I was in tears after all the worry etc, so I did another CBD which said Pregnant 3+ so I think I will just cancel the next early scan and unless anything changes and I get any pain or bleeding, I will ask to just wait til a 12 week scan date comes through, and go from there.  Crikey, so complicated!!!! I have looked on some websites since I got home, and the screen was showing me images that relate to 5-6 weeks pregnant, so I think I am a week or so out.  Worrying gone for now!! Hugs to all and thanks for reading xx

Hi Alfiesmummy,  such a worrying day for you. I think if I were you I'd go for the second scan just to ensure all I'd progressing well. I know it's scary but better to know all is okay. Hope your pregnancy progresses well and there's no further worries for you. Take care x

Hi Butterfly31 - thanks for replying!  I will see how I feel in a day or two, but I think if anything I would be better waiting at least a fortnight to know for sure, wasted appointments are a drain all round, and I would rather free up an appointment for someone else who needs it next week, and hang on a while longer for myself.  I am reassured after speaking to some friends who have been in similar situations, and they were advised to wait a bit longer and have another scan.  x

I am surprised they didn't take bloods etc . Even a week should make a difference although they usually say about 10 days to get another. I wouldn't see it as a waste and would try and get another if possible,it's just based on my experience which was similar last year unfortunately I didn't have a positive outcome. Hopefully your dates are just wrong and once get another scan will see your little bean with its heart beating away. It's amazing how quick they can develop. I had two scans 10 days apart recently and the difference was amazing. Good luck x

Sorry to hear you have also lost a baby....   I have only had once miscarriage and one healthy pregnancy before that, so they said they only investigate after 2-3 msc..  I will cancel next week's and see if they will make one for the following week or the next after that, and see what happens then. Thank you xx

Hi huni what a horrid worry for you, try and keep your appointment at least you will know what's going on rather than worry until the 12 week scan, I'm sure all will be OK.

I had 2 in a row in 2013 July and December and when I fell again in Feb 2014 they sent me for an early scan, yet this time round they didn't bother ????

Hi all, I rang to cancel this weeks appointment, and am now booked in for next Thursday instead.  The receptionist was really helpful, she said there were notes from last week saying all was fine, but I was just measuring at approx 4-5 weeks, so I am to go next week and see what I measure at then! So I feel fine apart from the nauseousness of course, but all in all am more relaxed again.  xx
