I was just wondering how much extra you think you eat whilst you are pregnant.
As you know, I had bad HG until about 20 weeks so lost a fair bit of weight, but in the past month or so normal appetite has resumed. I still have to say though, that I am not eating like a "pregnant" person, and wondering if eating for two is all hype. I just find if I scoff I feel uncomfortable, like there isn't enough room for food and baby.
Do you really think you eat much more than before you were pregnant?? If so is it bigger dinners, more snacks or extra meals, sarnies between meals, the type of food you want is different??
I've been having my three square meals a day. I don't really snack that much at home, more so if I am out or at friends. I suppose I have to admit to having a bowl or cereal or a sandwich before bed on a couple of occasions but on the whole its my normal portions across three meals.

I ate constantly! But it was very much 'little and often', I couldn't eat a big meal in one go as it felt like there wasn't enough space for the food. I think you are doing it right TBH, I know I ate more than I really 'needed' to, isn't it supposed to be like one buttered slice of toast extra a day by the 3rd tri?

I eat the same at meal times but tend to need extra snacks, bread and butter around 5pm, biscuits around 11am, pudding etc

I think I eat less, at the beginning I felt too sick to eat and lived off dry snacky foods and now I have the same feeling as you, no room for baby and food! I do find I give in to treats easier though as people (and myself) say oh this is the one time not to worry about gaining weight!!

In both my pregnancies I ate roughly the same but couldn't eat big portions so tended to pick and snack more.

I'm undoubtedly eating more. Feel like I'm constantly snacking and I eat too much then feel over-full/uncomfortable. Pre-pregnancy I was never really 'interested' in eating and got bored easily. Now I'm always hungry and wanting to eat, so I do. It's quite frustrating and I need to start controlling myself, especially because I'm mostly making unhealthy choices.

I don't really eat any differently. I eat the same amount of choc / sweets as well but just don't feel as guilty about it. I

I'm eating much less, and eating totally different things, though I'm probably not the best person to answer this thread with my GD

I eat a lot lot less. I've stopped snacking, my meals are halved and my desire for food has near enough disappeared. I can have hungry days but then when I try to eat a big meal I'm stuffed very quickly. We can't go out for a meal anymore as its pointless. A happy meal would have been a snack for me before and I'd still be hungry whereas now I can't finish it.

I put on a stone in the first Trip as went from one extreme to the other not being able to eat a thing due to sickness to constant hunger. After this I was a little and often eater until about 35/36 weeks when I totally lost my appetite as heartburn and the lack of space just made food impossible to get excited about. The only time I really ate like a pregnant woman was the day before I had him- I could not stop eating and literally spent the whole day on the sofa with no motivation to do anything but eat- think it was my body getting ready for labour.

I am eating loads more! More because I am a greedy pig than needing to though. To be honest its not more in quantity but more that I am eating things I wouldnt have before because I have been on one diet or another my whole adult life, garlic bread with my spag bol, naan with my curry, unhealthier things like macaroni cheese or pizza that I wouldnt have dreamed of before. I guess I am embracing not having to worry about that for now, although when I get to the end and have put on 4 stone I may reasses for the next pregnancy! I am still getting my 5 a day though, trying to sneak it in somewhere!

I am finding that I can't eat huge meals due to lack of available space but am grazing all through the day! Am really surprised that I haven't put that much weight on as have been enjoying a carb fest throughout which is something I usually avoid when not pregnant to keep my weight down. Obviously the baby needs it!

I am eating more but only because I have had to eat breakfast and I didn't before. Other than that I am eating less heathy as I used to eat alot of salad but I just can't face it at the moment.

I think the official guidelines are that you only need 200 calories extra and that's only in 3rd tri (that's the slice of buttered toast that Saisi mentioned - or an apple and a banana!).
During 1st tri, I was constantly hungry, but very sick, so I was constantly snacking. They were usually healthy things though, rice cakes, fruit etc, but this constant need to snack was gone by 2nd tri.
I'd say I'm just less bothered about what I eat now. For the two years before TTC (which was the run up to the wedding), I was on a constant diet, so it's nice to finally have a chance to have that cake and not worry about it. I think my meals are the same, but I'll just allow myself chocolate or cake now which I wouldn't have done before.
I have to have breakfast now which I never did before. We had no bread or milk this morning so I didn't have breakfast before work and I can already tell I'm going to have to pop out and get something shortly!
My SIL has not long announced she's pregnant and keeps going on about how she's being much more careful about what she's eating, which makes me feel guilty. I figure as long as I'm still eating a balanced diet at mealtimes, a bit of chocolate isn't going to kill me.

Normal meals but am snacking on junk a lot more.

I'm eating loads more than i normally do. But i ate loads less in the first tri and i don't feel fat. I'm just hungry and if i don't eat i'm grumpy. Can't really help it!
