ladies, it's been 2 weeks 3 days since my erpc and H and I DTD last night. I've woken up with cystitis, I've been sat on the toilet for half an hour now just because I can't bear running there every 5 mins. Got a docs appt at 9.40. Urgh it's horrid. Is this gona happen whenever we have sex now?! this was the second time since the op. first time I felt a bit bruised after but figured it was because it had been a while!

I'll try and answer this sensitively but were you fully aroused when you DTD so had plenty of natural lubrication? I used to get cystitis after sex when I was younger and often it was when things had been a bit drier, not dry just drier. If you're worried about DTD after the ERPC (which I can understand) you might not be so relaxed and so not producing as much lubrication. A tip a friend told me she had got from her GP is to go for a wee straight after DTD before you cuddle in. Seemed to work for me as I haven't needed antibiotics for cystitis since.
Hope it settles quickly-that burning urge is hell xx
I don't know actually Rod. I'm not sure if they'd be related? I haven't had cystitis since mine, but I only get it very rarely anyway. You'll maybe have to ask the doctor if the two are related but I suspect it could be a coincidence?
The doctor told me years ago to always get up and go for a wee after DTD to stop cystitus.

Snap! Looks like you're going to be going for a wee Rod!!

I assumed it was just me that legged it to the loo! So romantic!
04/04/2013 at 08:33
Oh yea I was well up for it! And I always go to the loo after! I used to get it bad when I was younger but less so now. Perhaps it's just where we haven't had sex for a while.
It was bloody good sex too. Feel terrible this morning tho!! X

Maybe it's just one of those things then. Get the anti b's and get rid!
Has your bleeding stopped? When I delivered William I was told not to Dtd till the bleeding stopped due to infection risk. I'd def get the gp to check it out and they might want to do swabs, if the gp is happy that its cystitis then try potassium citrate which is fantastic and can be bought over the counter. Hope it settles soon x

Yea there's no bleeding anymore, I had a little bit of brown after having sex yesterday but nothing that worried me.
I'm gona see the doc in an hour hopefully she can give me something. I'm halfway through a pint of water and have got back in bed now for a bit. It just makes me feel generally rubbish.

God you poor thing. Cyctitis is one of those things I would never wish on anyone. Hope the doc gives you something right away. Can't really comment on the reasons why, maybe it is because you are just not used to it. You are doing everything else right (weeing right after)

Oh rod how horrible. Hope the doctor can help and it gets cleared up. I've had it a few times and its not pleasant so I feel your pain! Get better. X

I hope the Dr helps clear it up. Cranberry juice also helps.

awww hun I was always told by my gp to get straight up have a wee and a little wash after DTD *totally unromantic* but it does work. I am very susceptible to UTI's and cystitis (?sp) and try and drink a lot of water because I hate cranberry juice :( hope you are feeling better soon x

Hi all I'm on my way to work now with a prescription for antibiotics in my bag. She did urine test which was clear but gave me them anyway just in case! It was the same doc we saw the day we found out I was pregnant so I was a bit cautious but she was lovely and said next time she sees me she hopes it's with good news xx

I'm late here but maybe this has just been a coincidence?? I've not had anything like this and me and OH have DTD a few times after the ERPC.
Hope it clears up soon for you. Nothing worse!!!
