I thought I'd start building a supply of breast milk so that we could introduce a bottle in a few weeks or I could leave d if I needed to. I tried last night and only managed 1oz, which I did on the second breast after d had finished her feed. Obviously I need much more so can I mix breast milk pumped at different sessions?
for those that expressed alongside full time nursing how did you find the best way to build up a back up supply was? Just seems to take a long time and although I haven't tried it, i think it will be too noisy to express at the same time as her Nursing. How do I know that I am getting both fore and hind milk when I express?

For the first couple of weeks of expressing I could only get about 2 oz but one day my supply must have increased and I've got 6 each time ever since. So maybe keep trying and the same will happen for you?
As for building up a supply, I express at the same time every morning, just before my son gets up. If I'm out and about that day and want to take EBM I just keep it in the fridge, but if I don't plan to use it it goes straight into a freezer bag and into the freezer. I'm 5 months in now and must have about 30 bags in the freezer. Am being a bit slack with freezing it at the moment as we're running out of space for adult food!

As far as I can remember you can mix, but it is only as fresh as the oldest milk so you would have to throw it out /use it up based on that
I used feed off one side at night and in the morning express off the other side as it would be very full. Early in the morning was always the best time for me to express. But you probably won't get much out each time yet as she's still only young
When your supply gets better in a few more weeks its easier to tell fire and hind, the fire is really really watery, then as you keep pumping the hind is thicker and creamier so it totally changes the colour in the bottle

I only mixed stuff pumped on the same day. Just use different bags for different days.
N was only ever a one boob feeder so I'd feed from one side then express from the other when I needed to get a stash together.

Try make sure an express is in the night, around 2am-4am. Hormones are higher then so may get a bigger amount?
You can mix milk in a 24 period but class it as only as fresh as the first amount iykwim.
