Hi hope everyone is ok, i was just wondering about extra nhs scans?
I know different areas have different policies etc, but do you actually have any more scans after the 20 weeks if your pregnancy is progressing healthily and normally?

basically my mum and my husband have been at the other 2 scans and my MIL would love to see baby and hasnt yet. I was thinking of booking a private scan, just a basic, cheapest package one, however my situation has changed slightly (we need to move home and husband job role has changed so money is much tighter) so if possible dont really want to spend money on this if you get other scans anyway!

If the pregnancy is fine and has no issues you will prob find you won't have any more scans.

I had one with my son at 37 weeks as they thought he was breech but this may be the only reason they give you another one.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi
They dont normally give you more scans after 20 weeks unless there is a problem, i had to have one at 28 weeks and got another at 36 growth scans as i had a low bmi when i got pregnant, but i think each area is different.
    Hope that helps

I have had a lot of extra scans but only because of pregnancy complications. Even if you do end up getting extra scans they are nothing like the 12 and 20 week scans because for me anyway, they are just checking for growth and measure the head and tummy quickly and don't take the time to show the face or anything. They are really for medical purposes rather than bonding and the consultants are always really busy and have a waiting room full of women. So your MIL might be disapointed. x
