My 20 week scan is this Friday and I've been so excited about it, but now that it's only days away I feel worried I'm so scared that they'll spot something wrong. I'm also beginning to wonder if I did the right thing not having the Downs Screening, me and hubby talked about it alot and we decided against it as I wouldn't do the amnio and would hate to terminate (though DH would want me to)

if you wouldn't do an amnio then I wouldn't worry about not having done the other tests. coz even 'high risk' is only 1 in 100, so that's 99% that the baby isn't downs. and without an amnio you'd never know for sure.
As for the scan, I guess just keep yourself busy til it happens, coz you're not gonna properly relax til they tell you everything's fine on friday. Post us lots of pics of little DM on friday once you find out they're all ok.

I totally agree with Gems on the old statistics, although it is so hard not to worry "am I that one in one hundred".

And I'm with you on the amnio - it's a horrible test and I know I would want this baby no matter what, so don't doubt yourself now!

I'm sure everything will be fine - deffo posts pics!!

    DM,

I know what you mean about the scans, I find that I'm really excited to be moving towards the next milestone and then when it's just around the corner, you start panickng about it.

I had my 16-week appointment yesterday and was so worked up about it I got my doppler out the night before just to check.

    Hi hun,

Wow, can't believe you are at your 20-week scan already! That's great news! I totally understand feeling a bit anxious, you are bound to but I am really sure all will be fine and you will get to see your lovely little baby again!!

If it's any help, we had a blood test for downs etc and then wished we hadn't as we wouldn't do anything anyway.

Try not to worry about the scan and when I was in there the sonographer was really quiet for ages and I found it really unnerving - kept thinking she must have found something wrong, but all was fine - they are just concentrating. Are you doing to find out the sex??

I'm sure all will be well DM, I crapped myself before my anomoly scan and all is well. It's only natural to worry after a MC!

Thanks Girls - I realised later last night that our 1st bean (my chem pregnancy) would have been due next week so wonder if subconciously that had been eating away at me and making me feel down and worried?!

I think I worry about the Downs Testing as I asked a couple of friends advice and one of them was very abrupt and said that if hubby wanted me to have it I should do it to keep him happy and to think seriously about what was important to us (erm having a baby!). I feelmlike maybe I baked DH into a corner - although he read all the leaflets and thought that the risks were low anyway so why bother if it would worry me, bless.

I'm sooo looking forward to seeing our baby again and getting nice new pics. Not finding out the sex, DH wanted to but i persuaded him it would be nice to have a surprise. I really want hubby to be the one who tells me what "kind" the baby is.

Pah! Tell your friend where to stick it! What century does she live in - honestly - do it just because your husband wants to??!!!! (sorry, got a bit ranty there, hope I don't offend).

When we first started talking about having babies hubby and I had this conversation where he just assumed that we would have the Downs test (because that's what his sister had done, doh!) and we had a massive argument because I refused. Once I had explained what the nuchal test tells you, shown him pictures of what an amnio test looks like (and explained at what stage you would have to have it) he fully understood why I didn't even want to go down that road in the first place. I probably did get a bit ranty with him, but I knew there was no way I would have an amnio, and as hubby had done NO research himself I felt he was being a bit of a knob about it.

Now ofcourse hubby couldn't care less and just wants a baby. Infact I told him about that programme on the telly recently Eight Boys and Wanting a Girl and he was horrified. He just kept saying "any baby would be good for me".

Sorry, complete ramble there - think what I am trying to say is, don;t worry about what other people say - this is your baby and you have to make the decisions that are best for you and him/her.

Good Luck for tomorrow - I'll be thinking of you.
