I am 23 weeks and wen to dentist today and had a filling on my front tooth. The old filling was discoloured but stable. I asked the dentist if it was safe and he said yes but now I've read on the net that you should'nt have unnessecary treatment which this kind of was. I feel really bad does anyone know anything about this subject ?. Wish I hadn't gone.

I have a really old filling that needs replacing but the dentist wasnt keen on replacing it unless he really needed to. He would have however done it if it was causing me pain (which it now is but with now only 9 weeks to go im hoping I can put it off until after baby is born). The dentist wouldnt have done it if he thought it wasnt safe so dont worry! Google can be a dangerous thing! They are experts and so dont pay attention to all the reviews on the internet!

    Hoya,
I had to have a filling done on my tooth a couple of weeks ago and i was reassured that it was perfectly safe. I did feel the same as you but i was told not to worry so i'm sure all's well.

I guess its natural to panic I am not going to go again unless its a real emergency.

    hiya

im a dental nurse. there is no reason that you shouldnt have the filling, dentists prefer pregnant women to have white fillings instead of the silver amalgam fillings as they contain mercury. please dont worry, its perfectly safe.

it depends on if its a silver one. I have a silver one which needs replacing but because it contains mercury, my dentist will not replace it until my baby is born unless it causes me problems.
