So I've got my bfp (well...5!) and booked a docs appointment. Went this morning and was told I am about 5 weeks gone. Due on 26th feb.
I'm not sure what I was expecting them to do, but she didn't examine me, ask me to do a test. Nada. Is this normal?

Thanks ladies. I suppose in my head I was expecting something else to happen!! Very strange.
From your experiences, will I now receive a letter from the mw? Or do I have to book in for a scan?
Not sure if it's me, but I'm so bloated, I can't suck my belly in. Is this normal? OH is telling me it's in my head!

bloating is totally normal.
I think it varies depending on the area you are in and your doctors surgery. For me, I called and my doctors just booked me an appointment to see the midwife for a pre-booking appointment where they did all the family medical history, took bloods, checked blood pressure etc. I think I was bout 6/7 weeks when I had this appointment. I think most places do all that stuff later though. The midwife will book you in for your 12 week scan and you should get an appointment sent to you for that.

Congrats on BFP!!
I saw my doc because I had food poisoning the same morning I got my BFP and it had me panicking. The doc wasn't the least bit interested in my being pregnant. I registered at the front desk with a form, 2 days later a midwife telephoned me and made an appointment to come to our house for the booking in appointment at 8.5 weeks.

With my 1st pregnancy I was told to come back at 8 weeks as 6 weeks for too early for them to even refer me to the mw so I think you've done ok! But yes I was suprised that they didn't do a pregnancy test. In fact I think the 1st time they actually check for a baby is at the 12 week scan, I honestly thought I'd made the whole thing up! Good luck & I hope you have a smooth time of it
