Have you had the flu jab yet ?

I dont think normal flu as a rule is a bad as say swine flu but I would still want to steer clear especially as you got so poorly before. The biggest issue is you cant really take anything to make yourself feel better and the pg body takes longer to fight off infections.

Personally I think the relatives bringing a child they know is poorly to a pregnant womans house is a bit thoughtless, I would just ask them to not come over until the illness is gone.

I was 18 weeks pregnant when I got flu and my GP said it would have no effect at all on the baby and he was right. I had it really bad too. However as my immunity was low with being pregnant I went on to get tonsilitis and then a chest infection all needing antibiotics which I would rather have not taken when I was pregnant but I was so ill I had no choice. So although flu (not sure about swine flu) doesnt directly affect the baby it can make you feel awful. Got to remember you cant take all the flu remedies etc either. If I were you I would say something. Make it up and say your GP said because you were so ill last time you need to avoid people who you know are ill. Children are the worst offenders (I have a 4 year old) and they can't control their coughs and sneezes etc so you're bound to pick up stuff off kids. You and your baby are more important than potentially offending relatives x

What a shame. Very selfish of your relatives for doing that. Take some paracetamol to keep your temp down, it is safe in pregnancy. Drink fluids and stay where its warm. Horrible being pregnant without this. Watch for other infections creeping in though as it did with me so make sure if they do you get treated xx
