A bit of background: I went to a latch on group last week as Z's latch was beginning to hurt, having not had any problems before, shes 7 weeks. This was sorted, and its been a revelation! She has been feeding much better, going longer between feeds, longer sleep at night, more day naps (previously didnt much) and all of this was falling into a routine with roughly the same times for feeding and sleeping! Hurrah!
The last 3 nights (inc tonight) she has been really fussy over the 6/7pm feeding, ultimately pulling off after a minute or two and being hysterical! I have two theories.
1) My let down is too fast. It literally sprays out. I've tried expressing before but nothing comes out, its only when she goes on that its triggered. I then try to express off once shes got going but by then shes hysterical. But why does it only bother her at this feed?
2) Shes over tired. She's generally napping an hour or so between 7 and 11am feed, and two-three between 11 and 3pm feed. She then doesnt nap after that. She's just gone off to sleep after the last hysterical episode but she hasnt fed since 3pm. Im just gonna leave her until she wakes or for a couple hours (whatever is first) and then try again.
So those are my theories, not that I know where to go with them, but any thoughts or ideas please? I cant get to a group until thursday and I cant bare this for another few nights!

Sounds like a growth spurt to me! I'll see if I m bounce my post from a couple of weeks back.
Could also be yor let down as well. I saw a bfcwho said the same thing as my let down is v. Fast. She pulls off for breath a d it sprays across the room! I was told to lay back a bit to slow it down.

F fusses at his last feed if he is too tired. Not sure what you could do except all the usual methods of trying to get her to sleep. Sorry.
Omg excuse my typing! I'm one handed on the iPad. Will bounce my post now.

On my phone so can't link but you need to try laidback breastfeeding if you have forceful letdown (mine was quite forceful from my left boob!). I'm sure Kellymom website has some advice....

I'd suggest reclining when feeding to get gravity on your side if let down is fast but it does sound like growth spurt. It's quite a common time for them to cluster feed and on/off feeding plus fussing is all part of them stimulating supply.
I can't remember how old Jude was but he did set his own bedtime at about 6.30 from quite a young age, he didn't sleep through but he did like the quiet of the bedroom so that might be worth a try? I just ended up playing in the laptop in bed.

Morph, I'll go have a look.
HF, its mainly my left boob too!
Think I'll try a two pronged attack tomorrow night, lay back a bit to feed and try and get her to take a nap after her 2/3pm feed. Of course she could just be being a fusspot, she has cluster fed before, but never been so hysterical on the boob. Shes been so chilled and happy recently.
