Anyone else with this?
Just wondering if we could have a little support thread?

I had it before my son was born 18 months ago. It's on my mind again as thinking of TTC again in the next few months. So I don't need a support thread as such for myself, but happy to share my experiences or answer questions as best I can based on my situation. There have been a few others is the past too, but names escape me at the moment.

I had it last time and am fully expecting to get it again this time! I'm 16+5 now but I don't know when I'll be tested for it.

I would mention it to your midwife at you 16 week appointment... I was tested at 16 weeks this time because they wanted to rule it out/In

I'm off to the hospital next week for a glucose tolerance test. I was advised to plan becoming pregnant again and get tested well in advance in case of any underlying diabetes as they're convinced I'll develop it one day. Wish me luck! I don't know if a positive result would affect TTC again in terms of timings, not thought that far in advance. Part of the reason I'm scared of becoming pregnant again is the diabetes!

Fingers crossed for a negative result for you queen! It's not that bad honestly! Let us know how you get on :)

Me! Same consultant as Monnie too. I had it first pregnancy and was diet controlled then in this one they do it test subsequent but treat you as having so I self monitor and regulate through diet, have had no issues other than baby is quite big

Oh nice to have someone else in the same boat.. Glad you have managed to manage it with diet! Will they by inducing you at all?

I was told on Thursday evening that I have it. I was so so worried and I guess I still am. I have an appt on Wednesday to learn how to self test etc. I think a support thread is a great idea. xx

Sorry to hear that you have diagnosed with it also Boo.. Fingers crossed for you on wednesday, My diabetic nurse was lovely and gave me the test I did 7 a day over the weekend Friday to monday (4pm) and then she's reduced it down to 4 times a day at random times. I hope you can manage yours with diet alone too! She was quite positive that I would be able to manage it with diet alone.. and I have been able to do so far!

Phone Call from the dietician she seemed happy with me too! Thank god lol! She's phoning next week to get my readings! They do keep a close eye on you don't they lol!

Last time I started just diet controlled and ended up on metformin and insulin as I was told it gets harder to control the further pregnant you get. It is daunting but gets easier. One benefit was I didn't put on any weight from diagnosis to the birth lol! I've seen a midwife today and she's trying to get me a clinic appointment sooner than the 30 week one I currently have. I've also previously had preeclampsia so I have a few issues to be followed.

Had my appt at the hospital today... Testing seems fine. They ate hoping that I can control it with diet alone, but reading between the lines I think I'll need tablets. I go back next week to review my readings etc. It'll take me a few days to work out what I can eat!! Keeping my fingers crossed xx

Thanks ladies! I am hoping that I can stay diet control but we will see!
Good luck with it Boo, I have found it pretty easy to do its just the little things you have to remember like Ketchup! That nearly caught me out! Raisins did catch me out lol!
It's just a bit of trial and error to see what you can get away with lol!
