I'm going to sound like a complete dork here but sod it, here goes...............why do you wash and iron baby clothes if you're buying them brand new? :\? My sister in law did the same with hers but I never did with mine and he didn't grow a 2nd head or anything.

    Hi Loopylass

I was just thinking the same as you...

This is my first baby and we have quite a few clothes and stuff for her, her nursery furniture arrived at the weekend so spent ages hanging her clothes in her wardrobe and folding her vests & babygrows tidy in her chest of drawers.

Do I need to take them all out and wash them???? If so, how come?

Yeah, i love doing stuff like that. I re packed my hospital bag the other day then thought, hmm well maybe i should re pack baby's as well so i took it all out, had a look in the wardrobe to find something "nicer" and then put all the same clothes back in again! Ha, completely potty!! Men just don't get it do they?

Oh I dunno... my hubby was involved in sorting the nursery out and putting her clothes away. He is worse than me prob... I can't let him out of the house without him buying the baby something. He went to a sports shop on Sat for some new running shorts and came back with a pink Longsdale tracksuit 0-3 months for her. He also wanted to buy her a sledge of all things, ready for the snow next winter... He is crazy!!!

I am glad he is so enthusiastic though.

Oh bless that is sooo sweet. My OH went to Munich on a stag do when my first was about 3 months and bought him a metal sports drinking bottle and honestly thought I could give him his milk in it!!

He's a bit more clued up this time round tho and made me pack my hospital bag at 25 weeks and keeps harping on about painting the nursery again and there's nothing wrong with it! Like you said at least they're keen I suppose. Is that pic from your 4d scan? She's much better looking than my avatar I must say

Hi Loopylass think your avatar is cool, i love monkeys! don;t know why i feel i have to wash the clothes espec as they are new but for some reason feel better if i do, i will wash all his bedding too , i would do that with new bedding for me so i figure he should get the same too, maybe it's because the clothes will be softer if they are washed or maybe it's a neurotic new mum thing!! ????Em xx

I don't know why I washed them all - you have a good point. My mum said it was a good idea to and make sure I put softener in the wash so I just did! I wouldn't jump off a cliff if she told me to though!

Hi everyone, I havent washed all my baby clothes yet but I cant wait to! Im only 26.5wks so im gonna leave it a while yet. I thought the clothes/ bedding had to be washed as they have all originally come from a factory before they were in shops where they could of been contaminated (not quite sure how though?!) and could irritate the babys skin as its more sensitive than adults skin x

God doctors are useless arnt they when i was 6wks pregnant i ended up in hospital coz i couldent keep anything down not even water and they said it had caused a water infection but they never gave me anything for it just put me on a drip and said it would flush it out. Anyway this went on for 10wks and it caused me to have ulcers on the neck of the womb witch made me bleed when i was 15wks pregnant eventually they gave me antibiotics and its cleared up now hope you are ok now tho. sarah xxx
