i had this done when i was pregnant. it's really simple and not as sccary as you may imagine. i had one blood test and then drank a specific amount of original lucozade. they then took two further blood test each an hour apart. the only other thing i had to do was not eat or drink from midnight before. i suffered from hypermesis so not eating all day too was not an option, so i requested an early morning appointment, which they gave me. it helped massivly that the phlebotomist (sp?) did the test and was massivly experinced as thats all she did all day, rather than a nurse.(nothing against them mind) i didn't even feel needle go in. the result came back really quick so please try not to worry.

I had my test done yesterday, its simples!
I got in the hospital at 8:20 am they took some blood, had to drink lucozade they told me to take in, had to drink it in the space of 10 mins then time 2 hours from finishing the drink, wasn't allowed to leave the hospital, so had to wait there, took in some mags and my mum to keep me company, had second lots of bloods taken exactly 2 hours later, and thats it all done, got to go back next week for the results.

Thanks for your replys ladies, I went today and was a bit worried as I had 4+ in my urine sample which is the highest, was there for about 3 hours and got the results there and then, with the all clear, they just told me to be careful on how much sugar you have the day before, I didn't really have much but next midwife appointment I am going to be really careful before. Good thing was I was on the ward where the pregnant ladies wait before they go to the delivery suite so got to see what that would be like x
