Can anyone explain to me why I would have growth scans to investigate bleeding?? What would they be looking for??

Do they think he's big or small? I had fortnightly growth scans from 20-34 weeks because P was small. They were done to measure her and also to check the function of the placenta ie one reason she might have been small was if something was wrong with the placenta.
A growth scan is, by definition, just a normal scan done with the intention of measuring size of baby. So i'm not really sure tbh. What else did they say? Are you ok?

I assume they will just scan to check placenta and perhaps make sure baby is growing which would indicate any problems with the placenta?
I'm no expert though and this is just a guess!
What's happened? Xx

As far as I know there aren't any concerns with baby's growth. Have measured spot on at all my scans and when they measure bump, it's spot on my amount of weeks. I've bled on and off since being pregnant, and this is why I'm being given a growth scan. I'm confused. I should have asked but you know how it is at these appointments!

I was already due to have scans this time after my huge bleed last time. They are for growth ie to check placenta is continuing to function properly but also to check placenta position and condition. I imagine that's more what yours is for rather than growth exactly

My friend was measuring small because her placenta was deteriorating and they sent her for a growth scan becuase of it.
hope your ok hun? xx

I just couldn't see the relation between me bleeding and needing a growth scan, when there is no worry about babys growth....that I know of. I guess they may think the placenta is the cause of the bleeding and so want to check its functioning properly by measuring baby.
Thanks guys xxx

WEES about position/function of the placenta. I'd guess if you've been sent a letter asking you to attend for a growth scan, it's because they have no other option on the system?
