Yesterday I had a small bit of brown discharge which worried me! I looked on the internet and that scared me even more! This morning I have only just been able to get in touch with my midwife and I've still been getting this small bit of brown discharge, she told me I need to go in for an early scan but it's nothing to worry about and I'll be fine, but I am still petrified! Has anybody else experienced this? I need my mind at ease

I had to go in for an early scan at eight weeks too. I had a small amount of blood and then brown discharge when I wiped. It's so worrying isn't it.
Everything was was ok and I'm now 14 weeks and baby is doing great. Try not to worry, I know it's easier said than done. Hope everything goes ok, keep us posted xxx

thank you, that puts my mind at ease a little. I have had no blood at all just the tiniest bit of brown discharge. I've been told by a few people that its nothing to worry about and its just normal but my midwife has told me to have an early scan just to but my mind at ease really, she doesn't seem worried so fingers crossed everything is ok.
how long did it take from the day you booked your early scan with your GP/midwife to actually having the scan? is it pretty quick?

I went to the Drs on the Tuesday and then had my scan on the Friday, felt like the longest few days ever.
Hope it come through soon for you, to put you mind at ease. It's good that the midwife isn't worried x

I had this with DD, except I had a small bit of blood at 8 weeks and then between 10 and 14 weeks I had continual bleeding, bright red, and was in and out of the assessment centre. At the end of the day everything was absolutely fine and I now have a 2 year old!
generally they say that brown blood is old blood and nothing to worry about, it's bright red with clots and cramps that's the scary one.

I agree that brown is nothing to worry about! It's a good thing to get an early scan, gives good piece of mind I had bright red bleeding at 7 weeks with my now 10month old. It's very safe to say he was fine

Hi Amy, ive had a few early scans due to the exact same thing. One internal and the rest external. Sometimes old blood is left behind or just wee bits that got stuck coming away. They will check pregnancy is in right place, your ovaries and just see if any signs of bleeding and bruising. I got a scan quickly as phoned early pregnancy unit as had pain and bleeding but all has turned out fine . Good luck xx

Oh one thing that they also said to me is that it's quite common to have some mild bleeding at the times when your periods would have been due, so at 8 weeks, 12 weeks etc. No idea why (can't remember!) but apparently it's just one of those things!
