    Hi
I'm a bit confused with everything at the moment. I had a MMC on 1st Feb this year and since had 2 periods, 1st period was 30 days after the MMC and the 2nd on 28th March (26 days later). I have since had a BFP although I've not sure exactly how pregnant I am as my period hadn't really got back to normal (usually a 26 day cycle). By my calculations I'm 8 weeks.

I saw my Doc but he didn't do any tests and referred me to the Early Pregnancy Unit, I had a scan last Friday and was told that my pregnancy was around 5 weeks, I had a second scan on Friday (22nd) and was told that I am about 5 1/2 weeks. The Doctor spent a really long time taking measurements and after the scan I was told I had a cyst on my left side.

After my scan a midwife spoke to me, giving me the picture - when I asked about the cyst, she said that this is not unusual - that the cyst forms to help the pregnancy before the placenta in fully formed.

I've asked my sisters and sister-in-laws about this (who have all had children) and no-one knows about this.

I have another appointment in 2 weeks for a further scan and they said they would monitor the cyst.

After a very traumatic MMC in Feb, I am now worried sick!

Does anyone who if this is normal?

It does happen to women and sometimes the cyst actually dissapears later on in your pregnancy. It doesn't usually effect the pregnancy I don't think.

    Hi Darclar

The cyst is completely normal and as the MW said to you, is there to feed the baby until the placenta takes over. It's called the corpus luteum. Every month it develops after ovulation and if you are not pregnant then it just withers away when you AF starts. If you are pregnant it stays around to feed the baby.

As for your dates and the Drs being different by scan it could well be that your cycles were still a bit awry after your mc and that you ovulated later than expected.

I know it's so difficult not to worry and that you annalyse every tiny thing after a mc (I am doing the same!) but try and keep strong and believe in your baby :\)

    Love and hugs, NN xxx

thank you for the replies - I'm trying to stay positive and to be honest had been doing really well until I found out about the cyst - then my mind went into overdrive.

I'm feeling much more positive today, I think it's the initial shock of things

    thanks for the replies.

I was just a bit shocked when I have a 1cm bean and a 5 cm cyst! I've checked up on this a bit further and everything you have said is correct.

I think after my MMC I'm just hoping everything goes well with this pregnancy.

I'm feeling great and don't even mind the HUGE sore boobs, wind, nausea and having to unbutton my trousers - bring it on I say :\)

    Hi again Darclar

Are you sure they said 5 1/2 weeks at your scan? Because if your bean was measuring 1cm that's much further along than 5 1/2 weeks!!

    Firstly congrats on BFP!

When i had a bit of bleeding in my pg - this was mentioned to me about a cyst, I was told it is completely natural - eventhough I had never heard of it before.

It has never been mentioned since to me!

    xx

NattyNik - I'm really in a muddle about my dates.

The first date of my last period was 28th March. I miscarried on 1st Feb and had 2 periods one 30 days later and the next 26 days after that. I normally have a 26 day cycle.

Counting from the first day of my last period, I calculate that I am 8 weeks +

To be honest my head is frazzled with it all. I'm trying to keep really calm and positive but can't stop my mind running away with me.

My last scan was the longest internal scan I had ever had - it felt like it was about 10 minutes long. Even my hubby commented on it!

I have another scan arranged for 5th June (day before my birthday) hopefully then I'll be able to ask more questions.

I'm feeling a bit adrift if I'm honest. I have no idea when I should see my Doc again as he seemed a bit flippant when I saw him last.

    Hi Darclar

    (((((hugs)))))

I know what you mean about trying to stay calm and positive!

I hope I didn't add to your confusion - I just wanted to say that perhaps you are closer to your dates being right with the baby being 1cm :\)

I saw my Dr today and she said that early scans aren't hugely accurate anyway because when they're measuring something so small it's easy to be a tiny bit out, which is a lot on a tiny baby!

Sorry your Dr was so flippant. Do you have a booking in appt with a midwife yet?

    Love NN xxx

    Hi Darclar,

I had an early scan at 7 weeks and they pointed out a cyst to me and said that it was absolutely nothing to worry about. I've since had 2 more scans and it's never been mentioned again so I'm guessing it has disappeared now xxx

PS- Happy Birthday for the 6th... same day as me!! Another D -Day baby! ha ha!!

    Thanks for all the replies.

When I had my first scan I was so worried because of my recent MMC and had loads of questions for when I had my second scan but then when the cyst was mentioned my head went blank.

I think I'll write down my questions for my next scan :\) To add to all my other symtoms - I also have the memory of a goldfish!

I'm glad I have here to let off steam, as we are keeping this pregnancy quiet until we are 12 weeks (only told 3 people sp far).

My husband is very protective and unfortunatley doesn't know anything about women's "goings on" to feel he is able to reasure.
