Jacky, I have been on omeprazole for years and on discovering I was pregnant, my GP checked and it is one of the "only" acid reflux medications you can safely take whilst pregnant. I have continued to take it and am currently 23+1 with no issues.

I googled it and found this on the NHS website:
Most medicines, in some way, can affect the development of a baby in the womb. The effect on the baby differs between medicines and also depends on the stage of pregnancy that you have reached when you take the medicine.
In the case of Omeprazole:
If you are taking this medicine and become pregnant, make sure that everyone involved in your medical care knows that you are pregnant and are taking Omeprazole.
It is believed that this medicine is appropriate for someone who is pregnant, but if you feel unwell or your circumstances change, you should talk to your prescriber.
The link for you to take a read is: http://www.nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pages/MedicineOverview.aspx?condition=Indigestion%20and%20excess%20acid&medicine=omeprazole&preparation=Omeprazole%2020mg%20gastro-resistant%20capsules and is in relation to 20mg of omeprazole.

Omeprazole is safe according to my Dr and the pharmacist I spoke with. However, any medicine will always carry some degree of risk as stated above.
