We've just seen that the average cost of raising a child from birth to 21 has risen to £229,251 (yep, that's pretty much a quarter of a million pounds).
And, apparently, we parents spend £11,225 of that just in our baby's first year – according to a study carried out by the Centre of Economic and Business Research for the insurance company Liverpool Victoria.
Are you surprised that a baby can cost this much? Or does it sound about right to you? What do you think are the big money spends in your baby's first year?
If you've already had a baby, did you spend this much in the first year, do you think?

£11,000! You're kidding me! I mean, the pushchair and the car seat cost a bit but nothing like that. I don't think I could spent 11 grand on my baby if I tried.
