My lovely friend text me today asking for advice on teething. Her son is 9 months and has life limiting disabilities. He is teething and really suffering with it so my poor friend is desperate after a week of no sleep in top of dealing with all the other issues he has.
She's tried teething granules already but they don't seem to help. Due to his disabilities, he can't hold a teething ring so that's out. Can anybody suggest anything else?
Thanks in advance.

Can you use anbesol on babies? I always find it good for numbing him pain. Although I used them I don't think teetha actually does anything except distract the baby for a couple of minutes! Not ideal in terms of getting much more sleep but can she use those little rubber baby tooth brush things that slip on your finger and let him chew on her finger? Otherwise I guess just calpol. Poor them, like you say, not like she hasn't got enough to contend with x
* gum not him!

Calpol, neurofen are good. What granules did she use? There's a shortage of Ashton and parson teeth a powders but iv found them on amazon and they are good with I. Doeshe eat solids? If so then things like melon and cucumber are good for gums. Or just give things like yoghurt.
Or what about an ice cube wrapped in a muslin and she can try to run it over his gums to try to cool them?
Poor little soul, hope the teeth are through soon. If its any consolation Isaac is grumpy before and as soon as the tooth breaks the gum he's ok x

Thanks both. I shall suggest teething gel etc.
CP, he can only (and will only ever) have purrees I'm afraid.
Poor mite has only one tooth to show for a week's pain!

Zoe lived on Calpol when teething, along with anbesol.

Anbasol, Calpol (I'm beginning to think A&P was an urban legend but will try Amazon thanks CP!). J also finds chewing my finger a nice reliever for some reason- it bl00dy hurts though!

also if little one will allow gently massaging around the mouth essentially just follow the edge of the lips. Our baby massage teacher suggested trying this she likened it torubbing an aching muscle just the touch is soothing.
