First pregnnacy and based on my calculcations I thought I was about 10 weeks..I found out I was pregnant around 5 weeks...they based it from my last period which was 11/23/2012. I went to the emergency room on Sunday, 2/3/13 for really mild cramping. They did a pelvic exam everything was normal, no signs of anything, she couldn't hear the heart beat tho at th ER but she warned me before using the doppler that she might not hear anything because its still kind of early. By this point I still hadn't had an U/S, they said everything looked good even from my pelvic exam and her checking my ovaries. Well late last night 2/5/13 I went the ER again because I had dull, achey, period like cramps, nothing severe but as the day went on and I used the bathroom, I noticed a discharge like a brownish color..about 9-10 I noticed that it was a little blood mixed in and had a clear mucus like fluid with it. They admitted me and the first ER doc did a basic sono and he said all he saw was my intestines..BAD SIGN to me..he did the pelvic exam and saw a little bit of blood and gave me the worst case scenario of having a m/c. They put me in another room, drew blood, and had an ultrasound tech with a TERRIBLE attitude because she got called in, give me an ultrasound. She said I'm definitely not 10 weeks. I'm around 6 weeks based on the size of the baby and she didnt see a heartbeat. SCARED. I was discharged from the hospital at about 130am and my hcG levels were 3553 which the nurse said was good..I have a follow up appt tomorrow 2/7/13 to see where they are. Has anyone experienced something similar and still had a beautiful healthy baby...I really don't wanna miscarry, I've already become so attached and it's gonna crush me Help!! Does this mean for a fact my baby is dead?...I've miscarried???

It is a confusing scenario, you're correct in that you'd normally go by your last period for dating your pregnancy up to your 'dating scan' but once we have that scan the date does (on most occasions) move forwards/backwards depending on baby's size.
Normally baby will start showing a heartbeat on ultrasound at around 7-8wks into term (though even then it can be hard for them to find depending on how baby is laying at the time). If their scan shows you closer to 6wks then all your other symptoms would seem reasonably ok (you get mild cramping as things adjust to accommodate your growing bump, spotting/light bleeding can come with implantation) & your HCG levels are still high.
Odd though it sounds it could simply be a 'missed period' that has made you think you're 4wks ahead of what you actually are (or you've mistaken a slightly lighter period for implantation). Don't lose hope just yet & remember whatever answers you're given there are others on here who will understand what you're going through & will offer their support. Best wishes.
