Pregnancy & Birth Clubs <

Hi I was just wondering if anyone is currently pregnant and has a high BMI. I know I am overweight but when I went along for my booking in appointment the midwife had made a big fuss, I now feel really embarrassed and would like to loose some weight. I had recently joined a slimming club just before I found out I was pregnant but I dont know how to move forward. Just wanted a rant really, thanks xx

I have a high BMI, thankfully everyone I have spoken to (midwives/consultants/etc) have been pretty good about it and haven't been rude or nagged me.
I'm fully aware of how big I am- no need for everyone else to tell me! All you can do is try to eat healthily and not gain too much weight during your pregnancy- its not the time to be going on any crazy diets/heaps of exercise that you're not used to!
You'll have a few extra appointments and may or may not be consultant shared care (depends on how high your BMI is)... Don't pay any attention to comments from your midwife! I've been weighed once (at my booking appointment). Sure you may be at higher risk of certain problems (Gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, etc.) but deal with that if it happens- no point in worrying beforehand.
Sorry for the ramble lol, if you need to chat then feel free to message me!
Congratulations on your pregnancy- enjoy it! x

Oh thank you for the response. The midwife was hardly slim herself so she wasnt rude, I suppose it was probably more me being paranoid I spoke to my midwife and my slimming world consultant and they agreed it is ok to still do the healthy plan, Obviously I do not want to carry on and lose lots of weight, just to keep me aware (as not to overdo it) x
