Was it worth it?
are there different types, if so what would you recommend?
who did you book it through?

I found the Tens machine brilliant during both my labours, so I'd highly recommend. However, if you're thinking of having more than one child you're better off buying one as the cost of rental is about half the price of a new one. Better still get one 2nd hand has it's unlikely that one would be used much. X

I used one last time and it was pretty useless. Though I plan on hiring another for this time as I think the type of labour I had meant it was useless, not the actual machine. My labour and delivery was VERY fast and contractions started full on with no time in between so I couldn't build up the tens like you should do.

I loved my tens machine. Was a great distraction for early labour and the car ride to hospital. it was a mama tens and i bought it used on ebay and then bought new pads for it. Im going to sell it on ebay so hoping to get my money back (so it'll only have cost me postage and £10 for the pads).

Tens machine didn't touch my back pain. I had 2 grown men take it in turns to pummel my back. They got a good workout that night :)
I don't intend to bother but I know a lot of people get great benefit.

I bought one a few days before the birth from a local pharmacy. Didn't use it in the end as my labour was induced and didn't last long, so I returned it when we got home and got my money back. Better than forking out to hire, but if I had used it, I probably could have sold it on easily enough and still would have got more back than the cost of hiring.

Thanks ladies. I'm hoping if I get one expecting a long drawn out labour, the law of sods will mean it happens so quickly it won't make it out of the box. I can dream right?

I have hired one from pregnanytens.co.uk I havent used it yet so cant say if worth while but it was delivered quickly and a good price, also check if your midwife hires them as they tend to be cheaper

I bought one, and used it in both labours. I now have it for sale, if you're interested. It's on Boots.com for £46

I hired one from boots, can't compare to others since it's the only one I tried, but it was a good distraction to concentrate on that when struggling through the contractions.

I used one in both labours, for my first when i was induced it didn't really seem to help, but with my second it was brilliant as I had it on from very early on and didn't need any other pain relief until i hit stage 3.
I hired one from tesco the first time which was quite reasonable.
