I am planning a home birth, and have a birth pool to use. I have also packed the normal hospital bag just in case I do need to transfer into hospital, but I was wondering if those of you who have had a home birth have any tips, or can recommend anything in particular to buy/use at home.

When the midwife says don't push, listen to her, I didn't, earned myself a trip to hospital for stitches on a 3degree tear!

Sensible tips: have a practice run filling the pool beforehand. It takes ages to fill and I never got in mine. (Labour dud progress a bit faster than expected tho).

Thanks HF - will definitely make suer I listen to the MW - I really want to avoid having to go into hospital if i can avoid it. We did a trial run with the pool the other weekend - 5/10 mins to inflate and approx 30 mins to fill (we have really good water pressure luckily) - so fingers crossed!!
