Apologies for posting my 147th question about hospital bags, but I've found a few lists whilst googling and most of them say to take a dark towel. Am I missing something, but I assume this would be for me after a shower, do the hospital not give you a towel?

Yep, it would be for you, and no, the hospital don't provide a towel, or my hospital didn't anyway.

Yes it's for you, and yes the hospital don't provide them.  Well, mine did when I ended up unexpectedly but it was a tiny very thing, scratchy thing which I would have preferred not to use.   The reason for them saying dark is that you will still be bleeding.  Personally rather than buying a new dark towel, I took in a couple of old towels with the view that if they were ruined I woudl buy nice new ones.

Ive bought a cheap black towel as they dont give you a towel in my hospital and like jelly baby says, I cant imagine them being nice and soft if they do!

Honestly, I would take one! I bought a huge black towel, only from Primark but it was heavenly to snuggle it round me after my shower. I also took some nice shower gel and mini shampoo. It was nice to have a little luxury in there, the post-labour ward can feel rather Spartan...

Thanks everyone, thought it might be for that and knew to take my own toiletries, just surprised about a towel. Thinking about it, even an old towel from home would probably be better than a little scratchy thing, ouch!

My hospital provided them but they were tiny and hard solid. I generally used two of theirs, one on the floor to stop the water running into my room and one for my hair whilst using my own to snuggle up into and get dried in comfort.

Even if they'd have provided I'd still like to take my own as it'll get messy

I took one but didn't use it, they provided towels which were fine. They weren't ever so fluffy but I was quite happy to use them and not get mine messy!
