How big/small were you at 16 weeks?
Hi Ladies,
Was just wondering if some of you might be able to help me?! I've got a christening to go to in a couple of weeks and I'm planning on wearing a non-maternity dress that is gathered at the front. The only problem is that I think if still don't have much of a bump, the dress will look a bit silly.
I have a small bump at the mo, but people would probably just assume I'm bloated. Sooooo, should I expect to grow a bit in the next couple of weeks or buy a new outfit? I'm 5' 9" and a size 10/12.
Thank you!

Why would a non-maternity dress look silly if you don't have a bump? Surely it's made for non-bump ladies?!
You might have a bit of a growth spurt in the next couple of weeks but it can vary so much. My friend was getting offered seats on the tube at 16 weeks but my bump is sort of flatter and longer so I still don't look that pregnant if I stand with my pelvis tucked under and I'm 19+5. We were both a size 10-12.
It is hard when you're at the in-between stage. When I went swimming I was paranoid everyone would think I was just fat but then I decided it was a bit silly thinking like that when such an amazing thing was happening to my body.
I'm sure you'll get chatting to loads of people to tell them you are pregnant anyway and if other people think you are bloated then so be it, as long as you and your family and friends know it's a baby in there, who cares!!
Enjoy the Christening, I've got two this month as well! (You're not off to one in Canterbury by any chance?!)

Its the best I could find of our none official ones, as all others have flowers, hands or hubby in way of my tum and our official ones wont be back for a few weeks. Everyone is different and people bloom at different times, personally I reall expanded on honeymoon at 18-20 and then 24-27 weeks and I now feel quite big lol!
Hope this helps

40 weeks today!
But as the others have said everyone is different so it can be hard to tell what you will be like.
funnily i thought i was huge but turns out thats nothing on whats to come! I was still in non-maternity dresses up to about 22 weeks and then they became a little too tight. Maternity dresses are very roomy and can drown you without a proper bump so i would say unless its a dress you could only have worn on a skinny day then you will be fine. We were on holiday when i was 19 weeks and i wore 3 different non maternity dresses and they all looked fine.

Like the others I thought I was pretty big but now it looks like there's barely anything there! It's really hard to predict how big you will be as some people pop out early, other not until much later.

I thought I was HUGE at 16wks ... but I look back now and realise I really wasn't !!!
Everyone is different tho - I think I got quite big early on and then slowed down - whereas I have friends that didn't show until 18wks ...
This is me at 16+3
and I think this was 13+4 - in a normal "non maternity" dress ... I thought I was huge - my, how I laugh !!!
Have attached a few pics. Like 2bsmart says, unless they are only for really skinny days you should be ok. I thought I was huge at 14 or so weeks but now at 24+4 i'm massive!
First one is at 13+6
Next one I have is 17+4
I didn't take any between 13+7 and 17+4 as my bump kinda grew at 17 weeks. Then at 23+4
Even at 17+4 I could have been mistaken for a porker but at 23+4 it's pretty obvious.
The dress I had on at 13+7 was an old non maternity from when I was 21 (i'm 24 now) so it wasn't that bad.
Maternity dresses are hard as they can make you look huge but have attached a pic of me at 19+6 in a dress from the holly willoughby range on littlewoods. It's BEAUTIFUL and so flattering. I wore it at 16 weeks, then at 19+6 and could quite easily wear it at the end. It's worth a look, I wore it with black shoes but if I wore cream with maybe cream headband would look more daytime. I did look pregnant which I loved as people noticed but I still wasn't massive
Sorry it's kinda turned into the Emma show! Just remember when I was struggling for my outfit that I had to buy at 13 weeks for the party at 19+6 and was so happy with my choice.

G/C from baby - saw this thread on the main page. Just to say it is so difficult to know exactly what your body will do/how it will change as everyone is so different.
I didn't start to show till really late on, I didn't look properly pregnant till well past 30 weeks!
Here's a pic of me when I was 16+2 (excuse the knickers!!)
All the best with your pg and enjoy the christening!
