We live a long way away from family, and most of our friends are in Wales (having very recently moved), so after telling close family and friends in person, we decided to announce the pregnancy with a group email...
How did you spread the good news?

Aww that is really lovely!!
The first person we told was my best friend, in a nightclub! She also confessed to being 7 weeks ahead of me! So she was 11ish weeks and me 4ish. Was lovely!
We told parents, siblings, best friends etc in person or in the case of my best friends who are abroad (two of them) a photo of the positive pregnancy test was emailled.
Some work friends guessed from my constant sickness and everyone else found out via FB when we uploaded the scan pic.

It's funny how other friends let on they're pregnant too. Same thing happened to me! She is just one day ahead of me!

My Mum - shoved my pg test in her face.
My Dad - After him asking if I was hungover, I just said "No, pregnant"
FB - I'm going to be a Mum again.
Straight to the point here.

Ha! Love it :) my dad was very to the point. We had barely got through the door at Christmas when he offered me a glass of wine, and when I said I was fine, he said that no daughter of his would ever turn down wine so I must be pregnant!
Days after my sister in law rang to tell me... "Erm, we seem to have found ourselves in the same position, we've just told your mom".!

We told parents with a copy of the scan photo in a card saying when we are due. Told brothers and sisters by email as we wouldn't see them for awhile. With the 1st we told everyone by phone as soon as we knew.
I love the 2 feet thing x

It's great knowing someone who's pregnant at the same time as you... that's why I love being on this forum.

Told my parents the day we got our BFP just in conversation. Told my MIL over the phone.
Didn't really 'announce' it to anyone else, just told people in normal conversation.
We're not really 'announcement' type people though, half my friends on Facebook probably don't even know I'm expecting, let alone that I'm ready to drop.

We didn't , with Isaac my neighbour had no idea who the baby in the pram was and I remember being 32 weeks at work and saying only x amount of shifts to go and the receptionist asked why and I said mat leave and she was stunned . I briefly put his scan pic on fb and said 'today is a good day'
In actual fact I didn't even use the word pregnant throughout the whole if isaacs pregnancy as I was in denial!
My friend has done similar, she's 24 weeks and is now just telling people if it comes up in conversation. There was never a big announcement iyswim. I'm actually desperate to get pregnant again as I want to see how far I get without announcing

Phoned parents. Put it on FB after our 12 week scan. Texted anyone else.

Told my parents after a week or so, wasn't planning on telling anyone else until 12 weeks but my mother has a big mouth...

My mum phoned me to tell me her cat had been run over and my grandad had been admitted to hospital to effectively die, she was a bit upset on the phone, so I said "well, not sure if this will make you feel any better, but I think i'm pregnant" she asked how and I said "because i'm looking at a positive test, but i'm not due on for another 4 days"
Told H's mum when we were over visiting by sending her a photo of a positive test. Her face was a picture!
announced it on fb by taking a photo of me the day of the scan holding my non-existent bump with the caption ETA 16th May 2013.

First time round we told parents in person, we conceive don holiday so told them we'd got an extra present from Spain but it woon;t be delivered for another 7 months. The day after our 12w scan we had a bonfire party so told a lot of people there, after a few more days afte rI told work etc. H put something on facebook, I wasn't going to but felt forced into it as people were asking me if it's true - H put something like 'My wife is pregnant. She says it's mine'. I put something like 'looks like we're getting a lodger for 18+ years'.
This time I don't know what to do. I'm not telling work until next week, by then I'll be 16 weeks. I've been telling friends as I see/speak to them, I don't know whether to announce it on fb or just not not talk about it. I'm not really a fan of scan photos so would like to do something more imaginitive - I love the 2 feet idea!

We told family and very good friends first, then told everyone else after the 12 week scan.

That's lovely! We told them at a big family meal with no.1. No.2 I had some scares and needed help with child care so had to tell them then. Pj xx

I love that!
I think I just told people with my first and second. A lot of my family and friends and people from here knew about the beans before I did the following announcement on fb but it still got loads and loads of likes and comments.
heartnurse is NOT expecting a baby, contrary to the rumour going around her workplace. No. She is expecting two...

HN, I love that! Weirdly I thought of lots of ideas or announcing status when I was daydreaming about having twins!
24/03/2013 at 21:59
We just told friends and family as we saw them with M, although we told my mil over the phone as she was on holiday, but as my bil and sil had told her the same news themselves 2 months previously she was very nervous of phone calls from us on future holidays! Lol.
With A we got M to tell my Dad via Skype (as he lives 200 miles away) it was the first time I had seen my Dad speechless in my life!
