We’d love to know how you decided to tell your friends and family you’re having a baby. Did you do anything special? And how many weeks pregnant were you when you did the big reveal?
We’d love to hear your stories, so please do let us know by posting a reply to this thread.

I have a nine year old sister, I bought her an aunty mug and on the other side it had my scan photo. She looked at the aunty side and asked if it was a Christmas present for our Aunty. I giggle showed her the other side and she started crying with joy and couldn't stop hugging me and kissing my belly ... I was 12 weeks Haha. But when I told most of my family they were just very excited and are dying to know what sex it is. Most of my friends were suprised because I have been living in Spain the past year and came back so suddenly

I told my folks right away. At the time my cousin had just had a wee girl and my other cousin and brother's wife were expecting. I have two older siblings who are 10 years older but no kids so I said to my mum "you know how you wait ages for a bus...and FOUR come along at once" she got it right away and was jumping about. Had to tell the immediate family by week 6 as I had HG and was just constantly sick all day every day and we went away on a trip with a couple of them.

I told my Mum on Christmas Day, when I was 3 months pregnant. The last present under the tree was a box for her. In it was a photo frame with my scan photo in and we had the frame engraved to say 'The best mum has just been promoted to Grandma'. She was so shocked as i have been with DH for 14 years and I am an only child so she had given up hope of grandkids a long time ago. There were a lot of tears!
We didnt tell anyone else until I was almost 20 weeks as there was a restructure happening where I worked and I wanted to get through that first.
Also our best friends bought us the Game of Life board game for Christmas, it's the interactive one you pay with the iPad. when you land on certain squares it plays video clips. We filmed ourselves announcing the baby and asking them to be godparents and DH put the game of life logo etc on it and mixed it into the game. When they came to visit at the end of January we played the game and when DH landed on the 'having a baby' square we played it. They were just confused how we were in the game and only got it when we played the clip again! Again they were shocked as no one expected that news from us!
i like planning these kind of surprises ... I even kept the news from DH for 4 days then woke him up with treasure hunt clues to follow round the house, the last one being a bun in the oven. We had been trying for a long time and only weeks before had been told by the doctor it wouldn't happen naturally so his first comment was 'oh breakfast' .... !

Nothing exciting for me! I told my parents the first time I saw them after becoming pregnant (so about 8 weeks). They were coming to stay for the weekend and my mum came in holding a bottle of wine. I was so nervous about telling them that I just blurted out, "You'll be drinking that by yourself coz I can't drink" and then she guessed.
We told a handful of close friends around the same time but we kept any wider announcements back until I was 16 weeks as we had complications earlier in the pregnancy.
I told my husband in an equally understated way. I just texted him and said, "I just did a pregnancy test and it's positive. Do you think I should do another one?"
I love seeing the creative ways other people announce their news but I know I would be embarrassed if I did anything like that myself. I even cringed at having to tell people when we got engaged 4 years ago!

I didn't do anything exciting: -/ . With my first, I kept taking home pregnancy test. All said negative. Two moths went by, still negative test and no period. Figured it was my hormones & stress . Finally my boobs started to swell. And hurt. I asked my mother to feel them, something had to be wrong!! Maybe breast cancer? As soon as I lifted my shirt, she said are you pregnant? Of course not!
She made me a appointment, they didn't even do a exam , just a urin test, well I'm pregnant! & 13 weeks! Sheesh. I texted everyone right away.
& the same for my second & this one. Exept i found out at 4 weeks. And told everyone right away . Unfortunately for this one, my mother is no longer with us . She passed last November due to bone cancer .

I thought it was lovely the way my cousin told her mum she was pregnant on Mothers Day, she had a put a positive pregnancy test in a long pretty box the type you'd find a bracelet inside and wrapped it up for her mum! I wasn't there but from what I heard it was quite a surprise and defiantly better than a bracelet :)
