I'm trying to work out how much I would earn if I were to go part time as would then pay less tax too but do employers work it out by dividing current salary by 52 weeks then dividing by days? I should really be able to work this out as I work in finance but I'm a bit brainless since having b!

Just divide by 5 then multiply by how many days you would work.
A great website for calculating take home pay is www.listentotaxman.co.uk (I think. Might be .com!). You just put in annual salary. Any deductions like childcare vouchers and pension and it gives a breakdown

I found this easiest as there's fewer calculations: For working 1 day a week, multiply your current salary by 0.2; 2 days it's 0.4; 3 days is 0.6; 4 days is 0.8. Then use listentotaxman.com, as WH it makes it really easy to see how much you should be getting after tax.

WTS - I went back to work 4 days after my ML, and basically get 80% of what my FT pay was less deductions - I hadn't see that website before, very useful!

Deedee, did u find that having that 1 extra day at home made a big difference? I know my work won't allow just 3 days and we would struggle, but couldn't decide if I'd be happy with that 1 extra day a week

Just do amount of new hours/old hours ( per week) x old salary.
Don't forget to take into account reduced travel costs too. You'll also get reduced holiday and probably bank hols , if that makes a difference.
Also think about if you will get any child tax credits and how it will effect that eg salary but also working hours.

I worked 4 days a week initially and it was great. Fridays were my sammy days so we'd always make an effort to go somewhere and see some friends. It took the pressure off at weekends so I could have a bit if me time.
I'm hoping I can do it again this time

Absolutely makes a difference, I really enjoy my day off - originally it was a Wednesday and it broke the week up nicely so that I never worked more than two days in a row, I also meet up with friends or go to groups etc on that day with C. I changed it to a Thursday for various reasons, but still only work 3 days maximum in a row.
