Thank you Wishful, its sinking in a bit now :)
Ah, when did you get sent for your scan? I've been planning to book one privately but I think I might be able to get one through NHS because of my irregular cycles, but don't want to end up waiting even a week longer than I need to! I was under the impression the midwife (OMG!) didn't get involved until you were further along, so if I waited on that to book me into an early scan it could be after 7-8 weeks (which is when I'm planning to have one!).

I called up my doctors and said "when am i supposed to come down?" and they said "oh we'll book you in now" so i had a pre-booking appt at 6 weeks where we had a long chat about what to expect, filled in masses of forms, and she reffered me for a scan which I ended up having at 8+3 and then i had a midwifes appt at 9+2 for my booking in with blood tests and urine tests etc, she was trying to word it delicately but basically said the NHS dont like spending money on blood tests when you're still high risk of losing the baby so wouldnt do bloods at 6 weeks. Which i understood but it wasnt the nicest thing in the world to hear. the scan at 8 weeks looked like a little dinosaur but we saw the heartbeat, didnt hear it, and they didnt offer us any pictures so get your H to snap a pic on his phone of the screen just incase! (biggest regret not getting him to)

Thanks for that, really helpful. Was your pre-booking with the doc or midwife? What blood tests do you have to have? Sorry for all the questions. I like to understand everything! Lol!

Hi pep, I know you were asking Wishful, but I've just had my booking in last Friday and I've got the book right here. The blood tests are for blood type and rhesus +/-, checking antibodies, rubella, hep b, syphilis, hiv, full blood count, hb electrophoresis. Not exactly sure what they test the urine for, though.. It just says 'MSU' (mid stream urine)... I've been told all the results will be given at the 16 wk appt. Hope this helped!

Thanks, it did! I wasn't sure if they checked hormone levels etc. Probably because thats all I'm use to having my blood tested for!
When is your 12 week scan Wispa? x

This Friday!! I'm so excited, I can barely contain myself.

Oh wow! How exciting. They can do it between 11-14 or something can't they?

Yep, I'm just praying my dates don't get pushed back, because I'll only be 11+3 at the scan and it would be a pain to have to come back next week, as my plan was to go back to Paris next Monday and I'd have to stick around in the UK longer if I need a second scan. But then, a second scan would mean seeing baby twice, so wouldn't be all bad I suppose!
